First Monticello, now Montpelier: Founding Father James Madison’s legacy gets ‘woke’ bastardization

The left-wing war on America’s historical monuments has now claimed another victim, the home of Founding Father James Madison has undergone a dramatic overhaul for the modern “woke” culture that has shoved all but the nation’s fourth president into a closet in his own home in favor of a revisionist tribute to slavery.

In another punch to the gut for America’s greatest early leaders, the globalist billionaire who funded the desecration of Founding Father Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello has similarly bankrolled the historical revamping of Madison’s Montpelier plantation in western Virginia, all but erasing the contributions of a man who is known as the “Father of the Constitution” to portray his life through the lens of the anti-white 21st century biases of Black Lives Matter and the 1619 Project.

“No American flags fly at Montpelier, Madison’s plantation home in rural Virginia, and not a single display focuses on the life and accomplishments of America’s foremost political philosopher, who created our three-branch federal system of government, wrote the Bill of Rights and the Federalist Papers, and served two terms as president,” the New York Post reported.

“I was kind of thinking we’d be hearing more about the Constitution,” the outlet quotes a “baffled” dad. “But everything here is really about slavery.”

A Wisconsin visitor named John said of the $35 guided tour, “It’s been inspirational … I guess.”

Another individual who posted on Tripadvisor as Alex Z described his July visit as a “Historically inaccurate and highly biased tour,” writing that the worst part were the gross historical inaccuracies and constant bias exhibited by the tour guide,”

He added, “This is a historic house owned by James Madison, who probably did more to bring the US Constitution to life than any other person. And given the times and his economic status he owned slaves. Both are worthy of discussion, but not at all the balance we got on this tour. Constant discussion of slaves, including a genetically disproven story that one of them had a child by him.”

Montpelier’s website touts the upcoming “Enslaved Community Tour” coming up later this month which is described as follows, “This walking tour of significant sites examines one of America’s largest paradoxes: a nation where “all men are created equal” built by those who are denied the exact freedoms they were laboring to establish.”

“Visitors to Montpelier get to see just three rooms in the sprawling mansion. The estate ‘made Madison the philosopher, farmer, statesman, and enslaver that he was,’ the guide said as The Post’s group entered the home — a line she repeated at the end of her spiel,” the New York Post reported.

Other visitors expressed disappointment with the “woke” bastardization of Madison’s historic contributions to America.

“On the Fourth of July, we drove four hours to visit the home of the “Father of the Constitution”. You could not find a flag with a search warrant. Very odd. Rather we were treated to a one hour Critical Race Theory experience disguised as a tour. As one tour member said “I m surprised Madison had time to write the Constitution as he was abusing his “enslaved Americans” full-time. Pathetic and insulting experience,” wrote Tripadvisor user Lapolla of Tulsa as a critique of his visit last summer.

The NY Post reported that “Even the children’s section of the gift shop leans far left, with titles like ‘Antiracist Baby’ by Ibram X. Kendi and ‘She Persisted’ by Chelsea Clinton.”

Madison’s home joins Jefferson’s Monticello as the historic sites that have been destroyed by leftists flush with cash from billionaire David M. Rubenstein’s grants – one of which was for $10 million for Montpelier’s update – provided to activists with an agenda to besmirch the nation’s Founding Fathers as racists.

Republican Rep. Bob Good of Virginia expressed disgust at the historical revisionism of the two founders, calling it a “a deliberate attack on those founding institutions.”

“The left is trying to revise our history and is perpetuating a dishonest narrative,” Good said according to the New York Post.
