Growing fears that President Joe Biden’s catastrophic management of the country could also destroy the Democratic party have led some of his staunchest defenders to raise questions about his age and fitness for the job, including the New York Times.
On Saturday, the nation’s “newspaper of record” published a bombshell report that the elderly leader’s struggles have become an “uncomfortable issue” with Biden’s party, breaking the news that his big trip to the Middle East where he will meet with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to beg for more oil at a time of record-high gas prices had to be postponed so that he could be “more rested” for the visit.
Biden was initially to have included the Middle East on his travels across the pond to Europe for the NATO meeting last month “until it became clear to Mr. Biden’s team that such extended travel might be unnecessarily taxing for a 79-year-old president,” with one unnamed official calling the idea that the geriatric POTUS could handle the “arduous 10-day overseas trek” as “crazy,” according to the Times.
Noting that he is already the oldest sitting president in the nation’s history – passing Ronald Reagan a the end of his two terms – the outlet reports that “as Mr. Biden insists he plans to run for a second term, his age has increasingly become an uncomfortable issue for him, his team and his party” but the fact that he would 86-years-old at the end of a potential second term and polls that show that many Americans already consider him too old, “some Democratic strategists do not think he should run again.”
The report comes after yet another of Biden’s embarrassing moments when he mistakenly read the instruction lines on his teleprompter as a part of a speech announcing his executive order to circumvent the Supreme Court’s ruling reversing abortion rights landmark Roe v. Wade on Friday.

The NYT conducted interviews with “more than a dozen current and former senior officials and advisers” with some not sanctioned by the White House that paint a troubling picture of the 79-year-old leader with some insisting that he is still up to the job, but “acknowledged Mr. Biden looks older than just a few years ago, a political liability that cannot be solved by traditional White House stratagems like staff shake-ups or new communications plans.”
“His energy level, while impressive for a man of his age, is not what it was, and some aides quietly watch out for him. He often shuffles when he walks, and aides worry he will trip on a wire. He stumbles over words during public events, and they hold their breath to see if he makes it to the end without a gaffe,” the Times reported.
According to the outlet, “Although White House officials insist they make no special accommodations the way Reagan’s team did, privately they try to guard Mr. Biden’s weekends in Delaware as much as possible. He is generally a five- or five-and-a-half-day-a-week president, although there are times when he is called at any hour regardless of the day. He stays out of public view at night and has taken part in fewer than half as many news conferences or interviews as recent predecessors.”
Biden has regularly spent his weekends away from the White House, traveling to his Delaware residences to rest but sadly, he can’t even escape questions about his age and ability on his home turf, taking a spill on his bike last month during a leisurely photo op ride.

“I do feel it’s inappropriate to seek that office after you’re 80 or in your 80s,” David Gergen who advised four presidents is quoted in the Times report. “I have just turned 80 and I have found over the last two or three years I think it would have been unwise for me to try to run any organization. You’re not quite as sharp as you once were.”
The stunning New York Times report which appears to be cracking open the door to shove the geriatric career politician into retirement drew the attention of Twitter users.

This reads like a political obituary. Biden is done. The only one who doesn’t realize it is him. https://t.co/kavY7Rwq0z

Being the president of the United States is not supposed to be a “restful” job. Quite the opposite. Everyone knows it’s demanding. If he can’t do his job, he needs to retire. This is unfair to all of us.

Is he flying coach or something? Last I checked there is a big bed in Air Force One. He basically can go to sleep and show up in the Middle East. But we know the reason he’s not going to school Middle East is going to give them the middle finger.

Have you ever tried reading from a teleprompter? That shit’s exhausting.

“The White House rejected the idea that Mr. Biden was anything other than a seven-day commander in chief. ‘President Biden works every day and because chief executives can perform their duties from anywhere in the world, it has long been common for them to spend weekends away from the White House,’ Andrew Bates, a deputy press secretary, said after this article was published online,” reported the New York Times.
