AZ’s Kari Lake says if elected she’ll sign ‘declaration of invasion,’ send illegal immigrants back to Mexico

Proudly pro-Trump Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake has promised to do anything and everything to stop illegals from streaming across the border into her state, including signing a declaration of invasion, deploying the state’s national guard, and even finishing former President Trump’s uncompleted wall.

“I have the only plan that will work, and it’s returning sovereignty to the states. The states have the right in Article I, Section 10 of the U.S. Constitution to protect their citizens from an invasion if the government is failing to do so. On day one, I’m going to issue a declaration of invasion. We are going to finish President Trump’s wall project. We’ve got about 20 miles left. And we’re going to use the materials that are sitting on our border,” she said during a Newsmax appearance last week.

“But in the meantime, while we’re finishing that wall, we are going to deploy the Arizona National Guard armed to the border, and we’re going to stop people from coming across the border. And pretty soon, the world will get the message, you do not enter America through Arizona. Because you’ll be turned back around, or, if you make it across, arrested and sent back across the border. They’re going to have a hard time finding people coming through Arizona because we are going to put a stop to this beginning on day one of my administration.”

Listen to her full remarks below:

“And that’s why they’re so afraid of me winning down here. Because they know I will do exactly what I say I will do. I’m a mother. I talk to moms and dads out there. We’re sick and tired of the fentanyl pouring across our border, killing our young people. We’re sick and tired of illegal aliens coming across our border — many of them with a history of crime — coming into our neighborhoods and causing problems,” she continued.

“And the state of Arizona will no longer pick up the tab for this. $2.87 billion is what this illegal immigration and these illegal border crossings are costing us as a state. We’re going to stop that, and we’re going to finish the wall, and Arizona will be a place where the cartels learn very quickly we’re just going to stop operating there because it’s a futile effort — they’re going to turn everybody back around.”

Her remarks come as the U.S. is facing the worst border crisis seen in decades, with an average of a quarter-million illegal aliens streaming across the border every day.

Hundreds were seen last week crossing into the U.S. in just one tiny “spot” in Eagle Pass, Texas, and despite sweltering temperatures in the 108 degrees range.

The Biden administration has done virtually nothing to stymie the flow of illegals, which in turn has forced state governors to take matters into their own hands.

To his credit, outgoing Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey, a Republican, has taken some action to limit the flow of illegal aliens into his state, including signing a bill in April targeting human smuggling operations. However, he’s stopped short of declaring an invasion, despite growing pressure to do so.

In a letter sent last week to the governor, Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich pleaded with Ducey to declare an invasion, lest more local resources be drained and more local communities be put at risk.

“As I know you are aware, our state is being overwhelmed by a flood of migrants and drugs pouring across our border. Local resources are being quickly drained and communities are being put at unacceptable levels of risk due to the federal government’s abdication of the rule of law. Last year, your office deployed the National Guard and declared a state of emergency at our border, but as the Biden-made disaster continues to intensify, there are more actions that we now have to consider,” he wrote.

“If there is more that we as a state can and should do, it can be pursued with your declaration of an ‘invasion’ at our southern border. I hope that you will seriously consider taking this step to ensure that we are doing everything possible to protect the safety and well-being of all Arizonans during this unprecedented catastrophe.”

As of Sunday, Ducey had yet to offer any indication that he intends to declare an invasion.
