The city of Orlando, Florida hastily apologized for saying people “probably don’t want to celebrate” the 4th of July and “we can’t blame them” after massive blowback from many over the blatantly unpatriotic sentiment.
The city sent out a statement promoting its Fourth of July fireworks display that did just the opposite, “A lot of people probably don’t want to celebrate our nation right now, and we can’t blame them. When there is so much division, hate and unrest, why on earth would you want to have a party celebrating any of it?”
“But in all seriousness, you know in your heart, Fourth of July fireworks are amazing, especially when you are standing in 90° heat, 100% humidity, next to 100,000 of your closest friends,” the statement added, according to WESH-TV. “In that moment, something takes over and we all become united in an inexplicable bond. Yes, America is in strife right now, but you know what… we already bought the fireworks.”
It seemed the message was taking a dig at Governor Ron DeSantis’ misnomered “Don’t Say Gay” bill and his actions taken against Disney. It may have also applied to the overturning of the landmark abortion case Roe vs. Wade by the Supreme Court.
Be the change you want to see, city of Orlando. This isn’t it. You speak of being upset with the division, hate and unrest and your approach is to participate and fan the flames of it. Drain the swamp. 🇺🇸

The message was slammed on social media by the Fraternal Order of Police in Orlando who said the message was in “poor taste,” which many considered an understatement.
“The members of the Fraternal Order of police Lodge 25 are proud Americans who will continue to serve with Courage, Pride and Commitment to uphold their oath to defend our community and this country. We do not share the same views as the City of Orlando and find their comments inflammatory and in poor taste,” the FOP said in a statement.

“Unacceptable and highly inappropriate from @citybeautiful (Orlando),” attorney and Florida state House GOP candidate Vennia Francois tweeted. “It’s also disrespectful to our Veterans who risked all for our Freedom. July 4th isn’t about the fireworks, it’s about the world’s first Constitutional Republic and the great experiment we call America.”

After epically face-planting over the transparently un-American sentiment, the city issued an apology, albeit, reluctantly.
“The city of Orlando sincerely regrets the negative impact our words have had on some in our community,” a statement proffered. “We understand these words offended some of our residents, which was not our intent. We value the freedoms we have in this country and are thankful to the men and women who fought and continue to fight for those. We take pride in celebrating the 4th of July to express our gratitude to those men and women and honor the country we live in.”
The Orlando “Fireworks at the Fountain” celebration will go on as planned downtown at Lake Eola Park and will begin around 9:10 p.m. Whether residents will show up after the hate-filled and divisive Independence Day message from the city remains to be seen.
Democrats in Orlando are not alone in their derision of America. The Pima County Democratic Party in Arizona also set social media on fire after promoting an event called “F*ck the Fourth.” The group would go on to delete the post but doubled down and insisted they stood by the event.

Pima County Democrats must be in the shovel business with the hole they're digging themselves into.

Other leftists trashed America online as well.
“My mood this year is more like what about if we burn this country to the goddamn ground, as a little treat?” Alisha Grauso, who is the features editor for the Hollywood media outlet Screen Rant, posted on Twitter.

A Fox News poll shows that 39 percent of Americans are “proud” of the United States in its current form. That is a massive drop of 12 percent from June of 2017.
