Medical professionals are expected to know how to prioritize demands, especially when confronted with decisions that could mean the difference between life and death. At least they were, until social justice warriors rushed in to slow down the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) to address the pressing concern of “urgency” as “a white supremacy value.”
Throughout the pandemic, the OHA was at the center of providing information to residents on COVID and in coordinating the rollout of the vaccination program. Now, according to an email obtained by Reason, those seemingly pressing concerns may have been sidelined in 2020 in the name of diversity, equity and inclusion.
Regional Health Equity Coalition Program Manager Danielle Droppers of the OHA let her colleagues know that a previously scheduled meeting was being postponed to address some of the damaging values of white supremacy.

“Thank you for your interest in attending the community conversation between Regional Health Equity Coalitions (RHECs) and Community Advisory Councils (CACs) to discuss the Community Investment Collaboratives (CICs),” she wrote. “We recognize that urgency is a white supremacy value that can get in the way of more intentional and thoughtful work, and we want to attend to this dynamic. Therefore, we will reach out at a later date to reschedule.”
RHEC is a government-run organization and recipients of the email were appalled at the claim made by Droppers. “Please, educate me on what the state means by urgency is a white supremacy value. Also, I would like to know how this gets in the way of the RHEC/CAC work. I have struggled all morning with how to communicate the reason for the postponement to our CAC,” one person responded representing a wide swath of people who saw this story and couldn’t wrap their heads around it.

The program manager offered no followup in reply, but a county healthy officially reportedly offered a link they uncovered that redirected to a website created by white antiracist activist Tema Okun. The coauthor of the 2001 work “Dismantling Racism: A Workbook for Social Change Groups” with Kenneth Jones, Okun laid out a number of key characteristics of “white supremacy” and urgency was among the top listed.

Objectivity and individualism were also included to truly hammer home the collectivist stance of the Marxist critical race theory ideology that defied reason with negative framework through which nonwhite individuals were viewed.
That’s racist, IMHO. Liberals believe minorities have no or little agency, and thus infantilizes a whole class of people.

So according to Okun, a Record of work done, trying your best, no reaction to the work products end result and no time table to get work done shouldn’t be an expectation because those are white Supremacist characteristics? Really?

So, despite the claims from radical proponents and corporate media defenders, these ideas are not merely the concern of academics studying at universities. These philosophies have permeated every structure of American society and will surely degrade it if not exposed. It would certainly be funny if they weren’t so well-supported and as far reaching as they have become.
