Border Patrol boils; Biden’s political persecution of agents for ‘strapping’ migrants ‘should scare every American’

President Joe Biden’s abuse of the powers of his office to engage in a political persecution of Border Patrol agents who were falsely accused of “whipping” Haitian migrants last year should “scare every American” according to Brandon Judd, the president of the National Border Patrol Council, the union which represents CBP agents.

“It is well established that Biden does not like the mission or the law enforcement agents of the U.S. Border Patrol, the agency tasked with being the United States’ front line of defense against some of the most dangerous transnational criminal organizations in the world,” Judd wrote in an editorial published by Fox News. “His party has repeatedly demonized the good men and women of the Border Patrol to score political points amongst his base. But scoring political points with rhetoric no longer seems to be enough.”

The agents, who while performing their duties near Del Rio, Texas last September, were thrust into a national firestorm when pictures of them twirling the reins on their horses were distorted by the media to conjure dark images of slavery by falsely claiming that they were lashing the migrants. This week, the news broke that they will face disciplinary action from an administration that is openly hostile to those tasked with the thankless job of enforcing the nation’s immigration laws.

Biden himself vowed, “I promise you, those people will pay. There will be an investigation, underway now, and there will be consequences. There will be consequences,” as the White House rushed to politicize the images which even the photographer denied showed the migrants being “strapped,” despite the sham narrative.

Now the investigation that Biden promised has been completed and the agents will be punished by DHS despite their being cleared of criminal wrongdoing in the incident, another example of how the most authoritarian president in the nation’s history has weaponized federal law enforcement to exact vengeance against the political enemies of the ruling Democratic Party.

Noting that the “strapping” narrative was debunked, Judd wrote, “A president who cares about the rule of law and the safety and security of the American people would have humbly submitted to the corrected version of events and moved on. Instead, Biden doubled down and ordered an investigation by executive branch employees from the Office of Professional Responsibility, who are overseen by presidential political appointees.”

“To use an investigative law enforcement entity to carry out political retribution for political gain is deplorable and reeks of deep state machinations usually seen in corrupt countries run by authoritarian regimes,” he added.

Biden’s vendetta against the agents has only further contributed to sagging morale according to Kathy Olivares, a former CBP Horse Patrol agent who spoke with Fox News.

“They could not find any criminal charges they could pin on these agents so they’re trying to find retribution in a different way,” she said on “American’s Newsroom” on Thursday.

“The morale is low. I mean, it seems like if you go out there and you do your job, bad things can happen to you. These guys did their job in a way that they were trained to do it, and now they’re being punished for that,” Olivares said.

“I hope it changes. I hope these guys are able to continue to do their job. I hope they’re back out there in the field on horseback doing their job now. I don’t know if that’s the case. I was a supervisor. I know the disciplinary process. I know this is not the way that we would have done it before,” she added.

Biden’s railroading of the wrongly accused agents is yet another black mark on America in a dark period of history, especially since they had already been cleared.

“In the greatest democracy the world has ever known, this should have never been allowed to happen. President Biden’s false allegations and his statement ‘those people will pay’ should have ensured that no executive branch entity conducted this investigation,” Judd said. “Although things might appear bleak, the National Border Patrol Council will vigorously defend the wrongly accused and scapegoated agents.”
