McCarthy’s fiery House floor speech hits Dems for refusal to protect SCOTUS judges: ‘How many times…?’

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy ripped into neglectful Democrats for blowing town without voting on a bill that will protect members of the Supreme Court and their families after a failed assassination attempt against conservative Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

In a fiery Thursday floor speech, the California Republican raised his voice to call out the ruling Democrats, many of whom have made inflammatory remarks about the nation’s highest court and conservative justices over the leaked draft opinion written by Samuel Alito suggesting that landmark abortion ruling Roe v. Wade could soon be overturned, incendiary rhetoric that has fed into the worst impulses of emotionally unhinged activists, many who have invaded neighborhoods where the judges live.

One of those invaders, a deranged 26-year-old named Nicholas John Roske, fired up by leftist media and looking for “purpose” in his wretched life, was on a mission to kill Kavanaugh and perhaps his wife and daughters before getting cold feet, sparing a divided nation from a horrible atrocity.

With Roske’s aborted mission in mind, McCarthy angrily blasted his Democrat colleagues for their indifference to the safety of the justices and their families.

“House Democrats are leaving,” he said. “Today they want to leave for a long weekend then gain tomorrow back. I spoke to the majority leader this morning. I told him nobody on this side would object, a unanimous consent, he could run that bill to the floor right now and send it to the president so we can protect the Supreme Court.”

“How many times do they have to be threatened?” McCarthy demanded. “How many people have to be arrested with a gun outside their home? What would have happened had he not called 911? He didn’t just have a gun. He had zip ties. But somehow you want to leave, this bill could be on the president’s desk right now.”

The Senate has already passed a bill to protect SCOTUS justices by unanimous consent but Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her unified caucus of ideologues have refused to vote on it in the House, a failure in responsible governance that was also denounced by McCarthy’s counterpart in the upper chamber, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell who on Wednesday, demanded action after the news broke about a failed assassination attempt against Justice Kavanaugh.

“House Democrats must pass this bill and they need to do it today,” McConnell said. “No more fiddling around with this, they need to pass it today. They need to stop their multiweek blockade against the Supreme Court security bill and pass it before the sun sets today.”

On Thursday, McConnell tweeted, “Democrats want to stage a spectacle about opposing political violence. But House Democrats, President Biden, and Attorney General Garland are intentionally blocking and ignoring basic steps to prevent political violence and illegal intimidation of the Supreme Court.”

Madame Speaker, who claimed that “nobody is in danger” as a result of her refusal to allow a vote, is now saying that the SCOTUS protection bill could be addressed next week which is not exactly encouraging news for Kavanaugh or the other five conservative justices who have been targeted by the angry mobs that Democrats have egged on.

McCarthy’s call for action comes after he received the backing of former President Donald J. Trump who gave the potential next Speaker of the House his “complete and total endorsement” over the weekend.

According to Trump, “In Congress, Kevin is a tireless advocate for the people of Bakersfield and the Central Valley. He is working incredibly hard to Stop Inflation, Deliver Water Solutions, and Hold Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi Accountable for their catastrophic failures and dereliction of duty.”
