President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden were reportedly evacuated from their vacation home in Delaware this Saturday after a reckless small plane pilot mistakenly crossed into the restricted airspace surrounding the home.
A woman who lives near the vacation home said she saw the plane flying over the area around 12:45 pm, after which she witnessed “two military-style jets scramble” to intercept it, as reported by CBS News.
One woman who lives nearby, Susan Lillard, tells @CBSNews she saw a small white plane flying over the area where Biden’s beach house is in town. That was around 12:45p. Then she saw the two military-style jets scramble minutes later over the town.

Seven minutes later, CBS’ Bo Erickson personally spotted the president’s motorcade “race” to a nearby fire station.
“At 12:52p, I saw @POTUS motorcade race into the Rehoboth Fire Station. I saw President Biden through the window of a SUV. Right before the motorcade, I saw 2 military jets flying low over the beach town. The press pool is not with the motorcade,” Erickson revealed in tweets posted Saturday afternoon.

The Secret Service then reportedly quickly discovered that the pilot had entered the restricted airspace by accident and that there was “no threat to the president or his family,” according to a statement from the White House.
At around 1:30 pm, Erickson spotted the motorcade leaving the fire station:

According to CBS News, the first couple were back at the vacation home by 2:05 pm.
The reason for all the hoopla was because, “[a]s is standard practice for presidential trips outside Washington, the Federal Aviation Administration published flight restrictions earlier this week before Biden’s beach town visit,” according to CNBC.
The restrictions included “a 10-mile radius no-fly zone contained with a 30-mile restricted zone.”
As for the pilot, he could be in a little bit of trouble.
“The aircraft was immediately escorted out of the restricted airspace. Preliminary investigation reveals the pilot was not on the proper radio channel, was not following the NOTAMS (Notice to Airmen) that had been filed and was not following published flight guidance,” the Secret Service said in a statement.
The agency plans to interview the pilot, after which criminal or civil penalties could be applied.

Following the unexpected incident, everything returned to normal, and the president was even spotted at the beach near his vacation home.

The pilot’s reckless actions have incidentally drawn a spotlight on the president’s habit of taking excessive vacations.
“President Joe Biden remains on pace to spend more time away from the White House than any of his recent predecessors. … Ahead of this weekend’s trip, Biden has spent an estimated 188 full or partial days away from the White House, with 130 spent at his Delaware properties, 52 at Camp David, and six in Nantucket,” according to an investigation by the Washington Examiner.
“If that pace holds, Biden will spend roughly 553 days away from the White House, which he has referred to as a ‘gilded cage,’ over his first term, or 1,106 days over two terms. That’s good for tops in the modern history of the presidency.”
Indeed, over the course of four years, former President Donald Trump spent only 381 days away from the White House. And even then, he claimed most of his time away was part of what he dubbed his “working vacations.”
All this comes as the president’s job approval rating continues to remain extraordinarily low, hovering around around a meager 40 percent in contrast to a disapproval rating ranging as high as 58 percent.

All this also comes as the country is experiencing multiple crisis, from exorbitant inflation to a shortage of baby formula.
The fact that the president is on vacation at such a perilous time for the American people is aggravating to some critics.
In fact, some critics say the real story here isn’t the pilot accidentally violating the president’s airspace — but rather the president violating his oath of office.
While you cancel your summer vacation due to high gas prices, Joe Biden is on vacation at his Delaware beach house.

Much ado about nothing. Bigger story is WHY is he ALWAYS on vacation? He spends more time in Delaware that DC! Taking dementia breaks at the beach house I suppose 🙄
