An unidentified man with a rifle and a handgun stormed into St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma said he was looking for a doctor, then proceeded to shoot and kill four innocent people before turning the gun on himself.
The slaughter took place in the Natalie Medical Building on the second floor at about 4:50 p.m. on Wednesday. The building is primarily used for sports medicine and orthopedic surgery.
“What happened today in Tulsa is a senseless act of violence and hatred. Sarah and I are praying for the families of those who lost their lives and for those who were injured,” Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt stated in response to the horrific event.
“I am grateful for the quick and brave actions of the Tulsa Police Department and other first responders who did their best to contain a terrible situation. I have offered Mayor G.T. Bynum any state resources that may be needed, and I ask all Oklahomans to come together in support of the Saint Francis Health System community and to grieve with those whose lives have been forever changed,” he added.
City Councilor Jayme Fowler told reporters that the gunman was looking for “Dr. Phillips” when he went on his killing spree. It is unknown if the doctor was among the shooter’s victims, according to the Daily Mail.

Originally, police were also investigating whether the gunman had planted a bomb at a residence in Muskogee. No explosives were found in the house.
Police were on the scene within three minutes according to authorities. They arrived while the shooting was taking place, Deputy Chief Eric Dalgleish said at a press conference.
“The officers that did arrive were hearing shots in the building, and that’s what directed them to the second floor,” he recounted.
The entire hospital complex was locked down on Wednesday afternoon. That included an outpatient surgery center and a breast health center.
Following the end of gunfire, police searched the building “floor by floor, room by room,” according to Captain Richard Meulenberg of the Tulsa Police Department.
“It’s a catastrophic scene in there right now,” Captain Meulenberg told reporters.
“It was just madness inside, with hundreds of rooms and hundreds of people trying to get out of the building,” he told CNN.
My prayers are with those who lost loved ones tonight, and with the entire Tulsa community as we recover from this tragedy.
I am thankful for our law enforcement officers who responded quickly.

An individual was seen in video footage being rolled away on a stretcher by first responders from the hospital. No further details have been released concerning injuries.
Police are still working on identifying who the gunman was and what motivated the mass shooting. The police, however, told reporters that “it wasn’t random.”
“This wasn’t an individual who just decided he wanted to go find a hospital full of random people. He deliberately made a choice to come here and his actions were deliberate,” Meulenberg stated.
“There will obviously be many questions, and there will be a very bumpy road, I think, ahead of us,” St. Francis Health System CEO Dr. Cliff Robertson commented to reporters, adding that the shooting was a “senseless, horrible, incomprehensible act.”
“There are over 10,000 of us who are part of the Saint Francis Health System that every day commit their lives to taking care of people in need. This horrible, incomprehensible act is not going to change that,” he declared.
“The White House is closely monitoring the situation and has reached out to state and local officials to offer support,” Biden officials postured in a statement.

This shooting follows one in Oklahoma by a 26-year-old man who opened fire at a Memorial Day festival, killing a 39-year-old woman during an argument and injuring seven victims, according to KOCO 5 ABC.
Skyler Buckner, 26, turned himself into the Muskogee County Sheriff’s Office on May 29. An arrest warrant had been issued for Buckner for first-degree murder and official charges will be filed when he is arraigned.
