NBC’s Chuck Todd mocks ‘thoughts and prayers’ after Uvalde school shooting, insists 2A right ‘doesn’t exist’

Giving credit where credit is due, MSNBC’s Chuck Todd managed quite succinctly to sum up the debate on gun control, but perhaps not in the way he intended.

Following the prescribed narrative of this week’s corporate media diktat, Todd began Sunday’s episode of “Meet the Press” on NBC News with an anti-Second Amendment and, more precisely, anti-conservative lament regarding the massacre in Uvalde, Texas. Where his peers had carried the weight of the Democrat Party with the standard misrepresentations of mass shooting statistics and the types of firearms responsible for most heinous crimes, Todd took aim at the culture.

“It’s become our uniquely American ritual of words after each episode of this uniquely American serial tragedy. Thought and prayers, nothing we can do,” the host expressed. “No law would have stopped this. The real problem is mental illness. If only the victims had been armed. More thoughts and prayers.”

As he furthered his argument, Todd concluded, “This current version of the Republican Party is being held hostage by a vocal minority obsessed with an absolute right that does not exist.”

Though spoken with a denigrating tone, he inadvertently hit the mark when he pointed out what the right has been saying all along. There is a reason that the Declaration of Independence states, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights.”

As San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone demonstrated by denying House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) the sacrament of Holy Communion, the Democratic Party continues to shift toward a Godless society. In so doing, they are tearing down the failsafes that were meant to ensure that the rights endowed by that Creator are tempered with the discipline necessary to wield them.

“How do we allow an 18-year-old, in this case, Salvador Ramos, to buy assault rifles and accumulate more than 1600 rounds of ammunition, all legally, mind you,” Todd asked of his viewers. “Whether it’s guns, or climate change, or protecting our democracy, we no longer have a politics that can meet these crucial moments that we face.”

Again, the progressive pundit is correct, but not for the reasons he believes. The morals of America are eroding and that is why our politics are incapable of meeting the challenges the nation faces. As Todd put it, “No member of Congress has been voted out of office for being too pro-gun. Not one!”

Why would they? To remove a member of Congress for supporting the Constitution would be inane. But that is the point he is actually trying to make.

As filmmaker Michael Moore pushed for hours after the tragedy in Uvalde, Texas, the goal is to disregard the Constitution. Where they’re concerned, authority comes not from the Divine, but from themselves, and they have grown weary of the constraints set forth to protect the rights of every American.

When Todd said, “So until the majorities who claim they want tougher background checks and to get assault weapons off the street, vote like they mean it, we can expect to hear more calls for thoughts and prayers and that’s it,” he may as well have said until Americans hand over their rights to the Democrats, expect to see more atrocities.
