Tucker Carlson: Buffalo shooter motivated by ‘mental illness,’ not ‘hateful Right-wing rhetoric’

As Democrats trip over themselves to blame the horrific shooting in Buffalo on racist Republican rhetoric, Tucker Carlson argued Thursday that alleged shooter Payton Gendron, 18, was not motivated by “hateful Right-wing rhetoric,” but by untreated “mental illness” — and the real concern should be over the Left’s attempt to “hijack” the tragedy for their own political agendas.

Citing a 180-page manifesto allegedly penned by Gendron prior to his rampage — a manifesto that has since been scrubbed from the internet — Democrats rushed to point to “White replacement theory” and Fox News’s Tucker Carlson as the reason behind the massacre which left ten black shoppers dead in a grocery store. The narrative was set and circulated by mainstream news outlets before the ink on the headlines was dry.

Legislation was quickly drawn up that would “fill the gaps in intelligence-sharing among the Justice Department, Department of Homeland Security and the FBI so that officials can better track and respond to the growing threat of white extremist terrorism,” the Associated Press reports.

Notably absent from the bill, which passed the House with a 222-203 vote on Wednesday, was any mention of radical, left-wing organizations such as BLM and Antifa.

And as Carlson pointed out, the bill doesn’t include a definition of “white supremacy.”

In fact, says Carlson, the Left’s definition of “white supremacy” is likely different from what most people think. After playing a montage of some of the most progressive lawmakers in Congress — all of them intent on stopping white supremacists — Carlson noted the words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. during “Tucker Carlson Tonight” Thursday.

“You should know that their definition of those terms is probably different from yours,” Carlson said. “So, if you were to quote Martin Luther King Jr., whose monument stands on the mall, and say that the U.S. government ought to treat people based on who they are and what they do and not how they look and how they were born — should assess people on the content of their character, not the color of their skin — if that’s your position, you are by definition, according to the people you just saw, a White supremacist.”

“This is scary,” he added.

While the Left continues to repeat the term “white replacement theory” — which espouses a belief that white people, along with their voting power, are being intentionally “replaced” by an influx of black and brown immigrants — and insist that it’s all conservatives like Carlson talk about, a closer look at what we do know about the shooting suspect’s manifesto actually shows that he was more politically aligned with Left-leaning policies.

For example, as BizPac Review previously reported, Gendron reportedly described himself as an “eco-Fascist.” Eco-Fascists are strong proponents of depopulation to save the planet — a distinctly Democratic stance echoed by such prominent Libs as Al Gore and Bill Gates.

In fact, BPR reported, even the “replacement theory” at the forefront of the discussion is actually “an active policy objective of the Democratic Party, which Democrats have openly celebrated for years.”

But, regardless of who is to blame for the racist ideology, was the theory what allegedly drove Gendron to do what he did?

According to Carlson, the answer is “no.”

“So they are continuing to tell you,” he said, “in the face of all available evidence, that the mass murder you saw over the weekend in Buffalo was inspired by hateful right-wing rhetoric when, in fact, that mass murder was committed by someone with diagnosed mental illness that the adults around him apparently ignored.”

Fact-checkers lunged for their keyboards in an attempt to debunk Carlson’s claim.

“While the suspect is reported to have undergone a psychiatric evaluation at a hospital last year, it has not been publicly disclosed if he was diagnosed with a mental illness,” the liberal-leaning Mediaite wrote.

What Mediaite failed to mention was the fact that Gendron was so paranoid about getting COVID-19, that he wore a hazmat suit to his high school — a high school he threatened just last year to shoot up during graduation.

According to another BPR report, even Erie County, NY, Sheriff John Garcia admitted Gendron “slipped through the cracks” of a failed mental health system.

And in an interview with the New York Post, BPR reported, a relative of Gendron, Sandra Komoroff, blamed the fear and isolation imposed by COVID restrictions — restrictions championed by Democrats in Democratic-run cities and states — for stoking Gendron’s fear.

Komoroff claimed Gendron “bought into” the fear of COVID.

“That’s the only way to say,” she said. “And when you’re home all day on the Internet, you’re missing out on human contact. There’s a lot of emotions and a lot of body language you’re not getting when you see their face.”

Facts aside, the perception of Gendron’s radical “Right-wing” beliefs was reason for the House to pass, almost entirely along party lines, a bill to combat white-supremacists who commit domestic terrorism.

“So you saw a shooting by a crazy person that has been hijacked by partisan forces to crush political dissent, to attack civil liberties in this country,” Carlson stated. “You should care about that.”
