Rocker Robert James Ritchie, better known as Kid Rock, has long expressed his penchant for free speech, and, as part of a preview for the Fox Nation series “Tucker Carlson Originals” that will feature the conservative musician, he demonstrated his no-nonsense approach to life by asking, “What the hell is this president doing?”
In March, Fox News host Tucker Carlson sat down with Ritchie, 51, to discuss his latest tour, promoting his new album “Bad Reputation,” and to get some perspective on culture and the music industry from someone who has regularly bucked the accepted norms of celebrities. At the time, Ritchie had declared “I am uncancelable because I don’t give a f*ck.”
As Carlson’s team has set out to document Ritchie’s way of life that has set him apart by never being beholden to corporate interests, the host questioned why others haven’t followed the rocker’s lead.
“Don’t you think at this point when so many of the therapies, the paths they’ve told us to take have turned out to be dead ends that have really hurt people,” he asked, “why wouldn’t open-minded people seek new solutions?
“I don’t know what the hell is going on in this world. I’m not even sure if I understood that question,” Ritchie joked halfheartedly as he expressed the trouble he sees around him. “But, some days I just want to stop this planet and let me off. Like, this dude’s a girl, this dude doesn’t know what he is, this dude’s swimming with a d*ck, like, it’s just, I don’t know what to make of it anymore.”
As he went on about the world he has made for himself that affords him the opportunity to step back from the issues confronting society, he lamented, “You know, I’d like to say I laugh at it a lot, but man, somedays, you know, it’s almost too serious to laugh.”
“You’re like, ‘What the hell is this president doing?’ It’s just bananas,” he explained of the failed leadership.
Ritchie, who has long been a friend of former President Donald Trump, had outlined in his long-form interview with Carlson how there were many more conservative celebrities out there who didn’t speak out because they were in bed with record companies and corporate interests. Were they willing to vocalize their concerns, perhaps more would be pointing out, as he had, that President Joe Biden’s mental acuity is subpar when compared to Trump and our nation is in a cultural deficit because of woke policies.
The rocker also explained his work ethic which he hopes is reflected in the shows he puts together. “I expect to see the best of America. We always do in places I show up to, you know, do what I do, entertain people to the best of my ability,” Ritchie detailed. “We always see just fun, hard-working, beer-drinking people, you know 40 hour a week people that work so hard to spend their money to come see me.”
“I think we get the best of what America has to offer at my shows,” he stated, recognizing that the Americans of fly-over country are so often overlooked by elites.
At the end of the segment, Carlson reflected on how his life had changed by spending time with Ritchie and getting to know him in earnest, and seeing the “different path” he has taken.
After the host noted the documentary would have a lot of Kid Rock, Ritchie concluded, “The more Kid Rock, the more you piss people off. Keep at it.”
