While Florida Democrats may talk a good game, pulling off what would be an earthshaking political upset by preventing popular Governor Ron DeSantis from being elected to a second term is truly a monumental task as is evident by the paltry crowd drawn to a recent rally by challenger Nikki Fried.
The smack-talking Fried spoke to supporters in the panhandle where she railed against DeSantis who had just signed a tough new pro-life bill into law, the latest Republican governor to do so.
But the turnout for the sitting Florida Secretary Of Agriculture was a major embarrassment.
Video of Fried’s event that was posted to Twitter by a reporter for Pensacola ABC affiliate WEAR underscores how difficult it is going to be for Dems to topple DeSantis, especially one as unlikable as the ambitious former weed lobbyist whose popularity on social media isn’t matched by her real-life appeal.

Making Fried’s big speech even more sad and pathetic is that the crowd included staffers.

The video wasn’t only a major optics problem for the only Democrat elected statewide but served as fuel for the inevitable mockery on Twitter.

Wow that’s a HUGE rally!! Congrats Nikki!!!
— Dan Goldwasser (@dgoldwas) April 14, 2022
Wow, the energy is palpable. I’ve seen bigger crowds at my local barber shop.

This is similar to Biden’s crowd when he was campaigning, and he received 81 million votes! 🤔
— RH Sibley (@rhsibley) April 15, 2022
Incredible crowd. Really reflects the base glad they could take a day off from watching the view. I think I see Pelosi 👵🏼
— Ian Moone (@willgonyer) April 14, 2022
OMG, I had BBQs bigger than this LOL!

When you get more staff than voters at campaign events, you're in trouble.

Following the posting of the humiliating video, Fried took to Twitter to come out of left field with claims about a supposed sex tape that nobody seems to have heard anything about.
“It’s absurd that I have to dignify this, but there is no sex tape. Sorry to disappoint. Also sorry basically every successful woman has to deal with these types of rumors,” she wrote.

Mockery again ensued over the gubernatorial candidate’s bizarre tweet which many felt appeared to be an effort to start rumors about herself for attention and sympathy.
Literally zero previous tweets ever:
Nikki Fried: “there is no sex tape.” https://t.co/lAlA2Ve2O5

Before @NikkiFried mentioned it, had any of you heard of this alleged sex tape?
No. You didn't. Because she's making shit up.
— RBe (@RBPundit) April 15, 2022
Is Nikki Fried the Jussie Smollett of sex scandals?
— Jeff Charles (@JeffOnTheRight) April 16, 2022
Me: Out of absolutely nowhere, Nikki Fried denied that she has a sex tape.
Friend: Who's Nikki Fried?
In case you're wondering why she felt the need to tweet this. https://t.co/LDxBQDLiVF

Please don’t say “Nikki Fried” and “sex tape” in the same sentence. It makes my skin crawl.
— carolyn tackett🐊 (@CarolsCloset) April 15, 2022
Nikki Fried: Stop talking about the Nikki Fried sex tape!
Everybody: Nobody’s talking about a Nikki Fried sex tape
Fried: Because it isn’t true! There isn’t a Nikki Fried sex tape!
Fried: Why does Twitter keep talking about a Nikki Fried sex tape?

Regardless of the tiny crowd, it is practically mission impossible for Fried or any Democrat to topple DeSantis whose name recognition and approval have soared thanks to the hysterical overreaction to Florida’s parental rights bill that was a severe blow to the left’s sinister agenda of “grooming” of young children in classrooms, a major misfire on the part of activists, mouthy celebrities and “woke” corporations like Disney.
Not only is DeSantis hugely popular but he is also a fundraising juggernaut, having broken the $100 million mark, an awesome war chest that should strike fear in the hearts of Democrats, especially if former President Donald J. Trump declines to run in 2024.
Fried still has to win the state’s Democrat primary against former GOP governor Charlie Crist who jumped parties during the Obama years, and Florida State Senator Annette Taddeo, all of whom are getting clobbered by DeSantis in a recent poll.
