Georgia Republican Senate candidate Herschel Walker extended an invitation to progressive journalist Elie Mystal to “break bread” after the leftist tore into the Republican’s candidacy, calling it “an insult to black people.”

But he received nothing but contempt in return for the offer.

Walker is the current frontrunner in the state for the GOP Senate nomination and has been endorsed by former President Donald Trump. Some state Republicans have also gone after the former NFL star, referring to him as a political novice. Democrats and the media, however, have pulled out the long knives, going after him for his history of mental struggles and his allegedly exaggerated business record.

Mystal writes for the radically progressive media outlet “The Nation.” He published a piece on Thursday titled, “The Herschel Walker Senate Campaign Is an Insult to Black People” and proclaimed it “is an animated caricature of a Black person drawn by white conservatives.”

“Walker is what they think of us, and they think we’re big, ignorant, and easily manipulated,” Mystal, who is also black, asserted. “They think we’re shady or criminal. They think we’re tools to be used. The Walker campaign exists as a political minstrel show: a splashy rendition of what white Republicans think Black people look and sound like.”

He excoriated Walker, contending he “displays a level of ignorance that would embarrass most sixth graders.”

“The modern Republican Party has proven that being an ignorant know-nothing who exists as a pure grievance candidate with no policies or platform is not a deal breaker for Republican voters,” Mystal wrote.

Walker told Fox News host Sean Hannity during an interview on Thursday, “I know I signed up for this when I decided to run.”

“It doesn’t matter what he called me,” Walker stated. “I was bullied when I was a little kid. Words are not going to hurt me right now.”

“I’m the most qualified candidate for this race right now and I’m the most qualified candidate to represent Georgia as a United State Senator. So it doesn’t matter what you say. I know what I’ve done,” he said.

“I’m not going to have you bully me, because you can’t,” Walker remarked. “What I would love to do for you to take the time to come down to Georgia, we sit down and break bread.”

“I’m about bringing people together, not separating people, when it seems like you are … that’s not Herschel Walker,” he declared.

” … [W]hat’s strange about it is he’s not telling everyone that the Democratic Party has left brown and black people behind,” Walker told host Sean Hannity.

“They forgot all about us, and they not just forgot about us, you look at the policy that’s going on, which has nothing to do with color,” Walker also said during the interview. “What it has to do with is these policies are not suitable for the people of Georgia. They’re not suitable for the people of the United States of America.”

Mystal clapped back after the interview, snubbing Walker’s invitation.

“I’m not looking for a Senator, not a goddamn buddy,” Mystal confusingly wrote on Twitter.

“I do not care, nor should anyone else, if Walker is fun to have a beer with. We should care about Walker’s policies. And when you look at Walker’s policies, we find the MAGA gobbledygook stew, injected with COVID misinformation, drizzled in grievance, served on a bed of lies,” he caustically added.

“But also, don’t fall for the misdirection. Walker wants to have dinner with me, some guy from New York, instead of debating ACTUAL REPUBLICANS IN FRONT OF THE PEOPLE OF GEORGIA. He certainly doesn’t want to debate the SENATOR from Georgia, Raphael Warnock. Ask yourselves why,” the leftist sneered.

“And the *obvious* answer is that I am WAY LESS POPULAR to Georgians than @SenatorWarnock! Senator Warnock could just as easily defenestrate what passes as “policy” from this guy as I could. But he’d do it in a nice way grounded in the needs of the actual people of Georgia,” Mystal disingenuously argued.

Mystal whined that he was “an easy target” for Walker and then snidely added, “He’d much rather be fighting with me than fighting with other Republicans, or Democrats, or talking to his constituents, or studying.”

“So *sadly*, I must decline Walker’s offer and this transparent attempt to distract people from his own cowardice and unwillingness to defend his policies in public. I respect the people of Georgia more than he does, and will not use this clown to raise my profile at their expense,” he said, not only dripping hatred and contempt for Walker but, some would say,  appearing to be massively afraid of him as well.
