The White House released the tax return of President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden on Friday, a move that was cheered by the media, but what received little attention was that when it came to charity, their donations didn’t match their lofty liberal rhetoric.

For the 2021 tax year, the Bidens reported an adjusted gross income of $610,702 on their federal taxes, paying a tax of $$150,439 on the jointly filed return; they also filed their Delaware return, paying $30,765 in state income tax.

Jill Biden also released her Virginia return, showing tax payments of $2,721 to the Commonwealth where she teaches at a community college.

The couple also reported giving $17,394 to charity, a figure of around 2.8 percent which fell short of 2016 data from the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center which was cited by Fox News, showing that in 2016, those making between $500,000 and $2 million donated 3.1 percent on average to charitable causes.

Vice President Kamala Harris and husband Douglas Emhoff also released their joint federal return, reporting an adjusted gross income of $1,655,563, paying $523,371 in federal taxes.

The second couple also skimped on giving, donating $22,100 to charity, “which, at 1.3%, is less than half the average donation for such high earners. On average, taxpayers making between $500,000 and $2,000,000 gave 3.1% of their income to charity, which would equal $51,322 on an income of $1,655,563,” according to Fox News.

Harris and Emhoff also paid $120,517 for California income tax, $2,044 in New York income tax and Emhoff paid $54,441 in D.C. income tax. He teaches at Georgetown University Law Center, making it a requirement for him to pay taxes to the District of Columbia.

A statement released by the White House hailed the first couple for their transparency, saying, “Today, the President and First Lady released their 2021 federal income tax return. With this release, the President has shared a total of 24 years of tax returns with the American public, once again demonstrating his commitment to being transparent with the American people about the finances of the commander in chief.”

“Including today’s release, the Vice President has published 18 years of tax returns,” the statement read, along with the numbers from Harris and Emhoff.

“It’s the second year in a row that Biden released his tax returns —after former President Trump refused to do so throughout his presidency,” Axios reported in the obligatory dig at former President Donald J. Trump who was hounded by the media for the entirety of his term over income taxes.

According to the White House, “The President and First Lady also reported contributions of $17,394 to 10 different charities. The largest gift to charity was $5,000 to the Beau Biden Foundation, a public charity dedicated to ensuring that all children are free from the threat of abuse.”

But of course, leftists on Twitter made it all about Trump, not the crumbs to the poor and downtrodden.

According to Fox News, “The $17,394 given to charity marks a decrease from 2020 when Biden was running for president. During that year, the Bidens gave $30,704 to charitable causes, which amounted to about 5% of their income.”

And while Biden supporters loved bashing Trump over the supposed “transparency,” Twitter users posted plenty of reminders about the former president’s repeated donation of his entire salary every year.
