Joe Rogan has debunked the rumor that ex-President Donald Trump is set to appear on his influential podcast.

The self-described “observer” also explained why extending an invitation to Trump for one of Rogan’s signature longform interviews is unlikely to happen going forward.

“A hundred people, at least, have texted me, and sent me emails, and contacted friends, because they heard Trump was coming on my podcast,” Rogan revealed in a clear-the-air colloquy with ex-CIA officer Mike Baker during a recent show.

“The source of it is a fake Trump account on Twitter that said…’I’m going on the Joe Rogan podcast soon.’ And I think it came out of the fact that Trump was on the Nelk Boys podcast, and then YouTube removed that podcast,” Rogan continued.

“They pulled the podcast, which is…one of the craziest things you could do because then everyone is going to talk about how YouTube removed that podcast. You can’t even have Trump talk, the former president of the United States, you can’t let him talk?”

The mixed martials arts commentator and stand-up comedian then articulated why a Trump interview, while fake news, is not on the agenda for his Spotify-hosted podcast.

“I have decided that I am very apolitical when it comes to the future in like, in political candidates. I don’t wanna have that kind of influence…I wanna be someone who can watch and observe. I don’t wanna be someone who’s actually affecting this,” the former Bernie Sanders supporter concluded.

Watch/listen:

As widely chronicled, the host of the immensely popular podcast has been mired in controversy lately for various reasons, and has issued one or more apologies, so perhaps the subtext here is an attempt by the former “Fear Factor” host to avoid further calls for his cancellation.

A Trump interview would have, as the saying goes, broken the Internet, however.

Rogan, who has famously dissented from the conventional COVID narrative and thus prompted the ire of vaccine hawks in and out of the corporate media, often discusses health, nutrition, and physical fitness as well as other forms of self-improvement in his freewheeling podcast interviews.

Thus there probably won’t be any shortage of “apolitical” content on the Joe Rogan Experience.

Moreover, it does appear that the free-speech-advocating Rogan will continue to discuss hot-button political and social issues, but just not with office-seekers.

During the above-mentioned “Full Send” podcast with the Nelk Boys (that received about five million views in its first 24 hours before it was scrubbed), Donald Trump had advised Rogan to stop apologizing to the woke mob.

“Joe Rogan is not a racist, and he’s a very interesting guy that people like listening to, but they’ve been ‘hitting’ very hard. I did tell him one thing: stop apologizing…I put the word out.”

Trump also floated the idea of Joe Rogan moderating a presidential debate. “He’s much more talented than Chris Wallace. He’s a much more talented person than just about all of these moderators.”

Potential 2024 president candidate Trump also noted that he wasn’t sure if Rogan had actually reached out to his office to schedule a (now debunked) potential sit-down.

Here are a few social media reactions to the Rogan announcement:
