After demanding people ‘rally around’ Biden, Twitter circles back to remind Dem senator about Trump

Sometimes one needs to “circle back,” a phrase that has been used recently by White House press secretary Jen Psaki but applies to a multitude of situations.

Such as, perhaps, when Senator Brian Schatz, D -Hawaii, demands that the entire nation “rally around” President Joe Biden while he “leads the free world in response” to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

“It is more essential than ever that we rally around our President as he leads the free world in response. If your instinct is to try to turn this into a partisan political advantage or a viral tweet, step off the stage,” he tweeted righteously.

You see, this tone of unity and national pride hasn’t always been Schatz’s go-to response when a crisis arises. In fact, it wasn’t that long ago that he was taking the opposite approach to a US president facing opposition on the world stage.

Thanks to the recently-restored “Defiant L’s” Twitter account, the senator’s hypocrisy was captured and put on display.

In 2019, when former President Donald Trump was still in the White House, Schatz tweeted “Wow he’s so bad at this. Iran, China, North Korea. We are just getting rolled.” Not a hint of “rally around our president” in sight.

Twitter happily “circled back” to remind the senator of his own past conduct, and to offer their own opinions on his tweet:
