The midterm elections are still months away but the Democrat smear machine is already kicking into high gear in a transparent effort to prevent a second White House run by former President Donald J. Trump in 2024.

The latest ginned-up outrage campaign by the media may provide fuel for yet another congressional investigation and Fox News anchor Bret Baier decided to take on the report that is raising skepticism and more questions than answers.

This week, The Washington Post which has served as the launching pad for numerous attacks on Trump, published a story suggesting that the once and perhaps future president violated the law by keeping classified documents – including those that were top secret – at his Mar-a-Lago estate, a claim that has been met with much skepticism given the dismal track record of the press and their assembly line of scandals, many of which were proven to be false.

It’s one thing for such stories to be given widespread coverage in the establishment media that almost always comes down on the side of the Democratic Party but quite another for unproven allegations from a blatantly biased source to gain traction on Fox News, the last mainstream bastion for conservative voices.

During a panel discussion on Thursday’s edition of “Special Report,” Baier asked his panel about the report that also serves to bolster Hillary Clinton who may be mulling another White House run.

“I want to turn to these document stories, there’s a Washington Post story out about the possibility that former President Trump had classified or top-secret documents at Mar-a-Lago,” Baier began, detailing some of WaPo’s claims which as usual, were attributed to anonymous sources.

“It reads this way: ‘Some of the White House documents that Donald Trump improperly took to his Mar-a-Lago residence were clearly marked as classified including documents at the top secret level according to the two people familiar with the matter,'” he said, leading from the article.

Baier continued reading the excerpt which went on to note that “it was unclear how many classified documents were among those received by the archives,” and that “some bore markings that the information was extremely sensitive, sometimes referred to as being above top secret.”

Baier then brought up the sensationalist and unproven claims from New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman’s new book that Trump clogged up White House toilets by flushing classified documents, a lurid claim that has been catnip to a media that desperately misses the ex-POTUS and the ratings generated by the scandal du jour.

Baier quoted Trump’s response to Haberman’s claims, “Also another fake story, that I flushed papers and documents down a White House toilet, is categorically untrue and simply made up by a reporter in order to get publicity for a mostly fictitious book.”

Baier admitted that the allegations had not been verified to be true, but went on to ask his panel about them.

“If Republicans were really, really upset and focused on Hillary Clinton’s emails and all of that classified back-and-forth and what happened with those documents, shouldn’t they be really upset or concerned about what’s coming out?” he asked former education secretary Bill Bennet.

“We don’t know factually that this is all true, but if it is, shouldn’t they be as concerned?” he added.

“Well, sure they should be concerned about it” Bennett replied, but noted that “this is a part of a long story of allegations against Donald Trump most of which proved groundless as you know.”

Mrs. Clinton was so evidently delighted by the Washington Post bombshell and Haberman’s book that she took to social media to promote a new limited edition hat emblazoned with the words “BUT HER EMAILS” while trolling Trump for “flushing documents down White House toilets…”

“Just in time for Galentine’s Day, and the news that Trump was flushing documents down White House toilets… ” Clinton wrote, adding a link to her PAC’s store on Twitter.
