Two years into the pandemic, the Biden administration is now attempting to recalculate COVID-19 hospitalizations and Politico is explaining “why.”
This should be good.
Scientists and data specialists from the Department of Health and Human Services and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will be seeking cooperation with hospitals to better report COVID-19 data, Politico reported.
The admin is asking hospitals to report numbers of patients who go to the facility because they have Covid-19 and separate those from individuals who go in for other reasons and test positive after being admittedhttps://t.co/rbCdID3xdw

The reported reasoning for the recalculation is to gain a better scope on the current state of the pandemic and guide public policy on the continued need for mitigation efforts like masking.
This “why” is not how the public views it.
I think we all know why. Thanks for the effort, tho’

We know why but thank you.

Others strayed from mere nods and winks at Politico to call out the suspected reason for the change.
Of course they are! Can’t have high numbers hurting Gramps in the polls.

Wow!! Those midterm numbers must be looking pretty piss poor!

This turnaround comes on the heel of many statements made by public officials unable to provide answers for why this hasn’t been the reporting method all along.
CNN's Jake Tapper rips into "misleading" COVID hospitalization numbers.
"We're 2 years into this … if somebody's in the hospital with a broken leg and they also have asymptomatic COVID, that should not be counted as hospitalized with covid, clearly." pic.twitter.com/rZhcANyYaW

It is unclear from the reporting if this new task force will be working to address concerns over how these hospitalization reports have impacted the pandemic death total from the onset.
Asked "how many of the 836,000 deaths in the U.S. linked to Covid are FROM Covid or how many are WITH Covid," CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky says "those data will be forthcoming." pic.twitter.com/JVcFk3aunc

Responses to this news have not been favorable.
Why hasn’t it been like this all along?

Oh, does now seem like a good time to start asking that question??

We knew Biden’s admin was cooking the books since the start of all this. Now elections are coming and Democrats need some positive press. Disgusting and vile. pic.twitter.com/rFVfi8UbBK

Of course they are. Because it’s an election year and they needed to inflate numbers because of politics and take control after the 2020 election. No conspiracy theory. It’s the truth. Everyone in the real world knew the numbers were wrong, but they were gaslighting us.

The administration is openly mocking us at this point. For two years we’ve had scary death tolls shoved in our faces and all of a sudden the reporting metrics change in a way which will inevitably reduce the number of Covid deaths? Absolutely shameless.
