Sinead O’Connor’s missing teenage son found dead, as she pays tribute to ‘light of my life’

Irish singer-songwriter Sinead O’Connor shared the tragic news that her teenage son had died, shocking fans with the outcome after he had been missing since last week.

“My beautiful son, Nevi’im Nesta Ali Shane O’Connor, the very light of my life, decided to end his earthly struggle today and is now with God,” O’Connor tweeted about her 17-year-old son.

“May he rest in peace and may no one follow his example. My baby. I love you so much. Please be at peace,” she added.

The teen was the son of O’Connor and musician Donal Lunny; the couple split soon after Shane was born. The singer has been married four times and has four children.

“This is for my Shaney. The light of my life. The lamp of my soul. My blue-eye baby,” the 55-year-old singer wrote later, adding a song by Bob Marley. “You will always be my light. We will always be together. No boundary can separate us.”

O’Connor had tweeted a plea to Shane earlier this week after he had been missing for a few days.

“Shane, your life is precious. God didn’t chisel that beautiful smile on your beautiful face for nothing. My world would collapse without you,” she wrote. “You are my heart. Please don’t stop it from beating. Please don’t harm yourself. Go to the Gardai and let’s get you to hospital.”

“This is a message for my son, Shane. Shane, it’s not funny any more all this going missing. You are scaring the crap out of me,” she said in a separate tweet.

The teen was reportedly last seen in Tallaght, South Dublin, on Friday and officials had issued a description to help identify and find him.

A spokesman for the police confirmed the tragic news Saturday that Shane’s body had been found.

“Following the recovery of a body in the Bray area of Wicklow on Friday, 7th January 2022, a Missing Person Appeal in respect of Shane O’Connor, 17 years, has been stood down,” the spokesman said, according to The Sun.

Heartfelt condolences poured in on social media after the sad news was learned.
