U.S. Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) took full advantage of the one-year anniversary of the Jan. 6 Capitol riot during a radical leftist vigil on Thursday night where he falsely proclaimed that the Republican Party is comprised of “the most authoritarian, fascistic elements of the whole country.”

He lauded the police in Washington, D.C., for ostensibly fighting “hordes of fascist mobs” on January 6 and then proceeded to obscenely claim that conservatives only back the blue when law enforcement officials assault black people.

“Where are all those phony defenders of law enforcement who only rear their ugly heads when some racist cop beats up an African American citizen? We don’t hear from them about January 6, do we? We stand with the cops like we stand with the firefighters, like we stand with the teachers, like we stand with all public employees, the servants of the people,” he incitingly and falsely stated.

“I greet the American majority on this evening on Jan. 6, 2022. Never forget that Hillary Clinton beat [Trump] by 3 million votes and Joe Biden beat him by 7 and a half million votes. The new Americans are on our side,” he angrily declared to the progressively Marxist crowd. “[Republicans] are a shrinking minority party standing with the most authoritarian, fascistic elements of the whole country.”

Raskin lavished praise on Reps. Liz Cheney (R-WY) and Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), who have both turned on their own party in favor of the Democrats’ vendetta against former President Trump in a disingenuous effort to “defeat fascism.” They both serve with Raskin on Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s January 6 House Select Committee.

He declared that Cheney and Kinzinger are “constitutional patriots” who are “standing up for democracy.”

“You go back and you look at the history of coups and fascism on earth, progressives and liberals can never defeat fascism on their own, it is always progressives and liberals at the center-right that come together to defend democracy and we are going to do it again. We are the majority. I admit they have a lot of control over levers of anti-democratic power in America,” Raskin asserted contending it is the fascists who are fighting fascism.

The Jan. 6 event was reportedly hosted by over 100 progressive organizations. Shut Down DC was among those behind the gathering. The group is known for repeatedly protesting at the homes of Republican members of Congress Sens. Josh Hawley, Rand Paul, and Lindsey Graham in an attempt to intimidate and threaten them.

Raskin’s public statement on Jan. 6 was sanitized for the masses so his stances would not appear as radical, hateful, or violent as many believed they were.

“One year ago today, we witnessed the unthinkable: an attempted coup organized by a president against his own vice-president and the Congress. This coup against democracy was surrounded and camouflaged by a violent insurrection that laid siege to the Capitol and that interrupted for many hours the peaceful transfer of power and which was itself surrounded by a savage mob riot of tens of thousands of people brought to Washington for a ‘wild’ protest by a lawless lame-duck president trying desperately to hang on to the presidency,” he charged.

Donald Trump and his followers are trying to destroy Americans’ memory of these events, but we will never allow that to happen. Remembering January 6 in detail is a civic duty in our century. The attempted coup and insurrection left 150 law enforcement officers injured, wounded, traumatized or dead. Anyone who denies or minimizes this unprecedented assault on law enforcement can never call himself or herself ‘pro-law enforcement.’ That’s just political fraud,” Raskin remarked.

“American democracy is a hard-won work-in-progress and we will persevere and rebound once more with popular engagement. After the bloody violence on January 6, we returned to our chamber to complete the electoral count and certify the election results. We were not deterred. Like the police officers who held the line and defended us against all the odds, we too did our jobs, even though our jobs are a lot easier than the jobs of the cops who saved our lives. Now we must rebuild and fortify our democratic institutions with the same resolve shown by the constitutional patriots of January 6, 2021,” he concluded.
