Aaron Babbitt claims his wife Ashli would still be alive today if he had gone to the Capitol with her to attend the January 6 rally because they both hated crowds and he would have known “something wrong was going on around there.”
He was shocked when he was told that she had breached the Capitol building, crawled through a broken window into the Speaker’s Lobby outside the House chamber, and then was shot and killed by Capitol police officer Michael Byrd who was unidentified at the time. He found out that she had been injured from a friend who called and told him she saw her possibly hurt on TV.
In an interview with TMZ, Aaron Babbitt claimed his wife would never have entered the Capitol building during the riot if he had gone with her. He stayed home in San Deigo instead to run their pool maintenance company.
“Nobody’s gonna watch over her or watch her back better than I could have,” he asserted. “We never would have been in the Capitol for one… that never would have happened. I wouldn’t have gone in there. That’s not my scene,” Aaron explained.
Babbitt considers himself a “very vigilant person” and says that he would have picked up on the signs that the situation was going sideways.
“I’m pretty sure I would have been able to pick that up pretty quickly,” he contended.
As the one-year anniversary of Jan. 6 came and went, Babbitt said he was happy that Ashli’s name was trending on Twitter. Through all of the hate mail and death threats, he wants to keep her memory alive.

Ashli Babbitt’s mother, Micki Witthoeft, claims that her daughter was murdered by Byrd. She called him “careless and reckless,” according to the Daily Mail.
She protested outside the Capitol with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene on Thursday and demanded that Pelosi release surveillance footage from the shooting. She called for “justice” for those arrested in the riot and labeled them political prisoners.
“I feel like the Capitol police need to change the way they do things, they operate with impunity, which I did not know until my daughter was publicly executed,” Witthoeft told reporters.
She informed Pelosi, “This is not your playhouse or your private domain. These surveillance cameras were put up to capture what happened that day, the American people have a right to see the 14,000 hours of footage.”
“You’re not the queen, Nancy Pelosi. This is America’s 14,000 hours of missing footage. We have a right to see it,” proclaimed Witthoeft.
She went on to tell The Washington Post that her daughter “made the ultimate sacrifice” to bring attention to what she claimed was “a stolen election.”
“Half the country loves her and half the country hates her,” she stated. “It’s weird to have your child belong to the world.”
Ashli Babbitt evidently made the fateful decision to go to the rally while she and her husband were celebrating Christmas in Cabo in 2020.
Many Americans are incensed over what happened to Ashli Babbitt and she will not be forgotten:
She deserves justice ⚖️ ⚖️. Rest in Peace 🙏 🕊
