A Virginia teachers union has garnered plenty of attention but for all the wrong reasons after a letter about coronavirus protections at schools was roasted on social media.

An Arlington parent gave the union letter an old-fashioned editing and the result was a wave of mockery as it went viral for a trove of embarrassing grammatical and linguistic errors.

While there was no other context about the original letter or any links to where it could be found, the Twitter user @ellenfgallery shared images of her corrections, highlighting nearly two-dozen issues in green pen and sparking hundreds of Twitter reactions mocking the fail by professional educators.

“Hey @VEA4Kids, are you going to send out more of these grammar worksheets over break?” the tweet read. “My kids and I had a great time spotting errors! Did we find them all?”

Addressing the rise in coronavirus cases, the letter that appeared to be to Arlington Schools Superintendent Dr. Francisco Duran made the case to delay the resumption of classes in January following the holiday break for students.

“On behalf of the members of the Arlington Education Association, this dire expression lends great concerns for Arlington Public Schools return plans for January 3rd, 2022,” the letter’s original opening sentence read.

But thanks to the parent-editor, the line was completely reworked to read better before going on to correct other gaffes such as using the word “are” instead of “our.”

“The fire departments in are region are exemplifying domino outbreaks as well,” the letter originally read.

Besides a collection of misplaced or unneeded punctuation, the letter, signed by Arlington teachers’ union president Ingrid Gant, was also corrected for “awkward” phrasing which the parent pointed out in a marginal note.

Images of the edited letter shared to social media sparked immediate reactions:
