Biden smiles and walks away when asked about his responsibility for COVID deaths, China transparency

President Joe Biden doesn’t seem as eager to go toe-to-toe with the press as his predecessor and refuses to answer the hard questions, choosing instead to smile and walk away.

While on his way to an awaiting flight, Biden opted to take a question from a shouting reporter who asked him about his responsibility for COVID deaths, and why the president hasn’t pressured China to be more transparent about the pandemic’s origins.

“800,000 coronavirus deaths — do you have a statement on your responsibility? And why haven’t you asked China to do more, to be transparent on the origins?”

Biden’s response was astounding:

The president just smiled and waved, not answering the question.

It could have been because Biden couldn’t hear the reporter over the noise, which was evident in the background of the video. However, this was not communicated in any way so it appears as though he heard the question and simply opted not to respond. Biden does have a history of getting snippy with reporters who ask him questions he doesn’t like and has even joked that he actively tries to avoid the media’s questions if he can.

The question itself was a callback to Biden’s statements during the 2020 presidential race during which he said, “200,000 plus have died. 50,000 a day are getting the virus. 1,000 thereabouts are dying… The president should take responsibility.”

Regardless of whether background noise prevented him from hearing this question, it’s one Biden needs to answer. But don’t ask White House press secretary Jen Psaki about it:
