One of America’s most beloved national restaurant chains is at the center of a political firestorm over a picture of a controversial sign that was reportedly posted on the front door of one of its locations blaming staff shortages and reduced hours on President Joe Biden’s economic policies.
Images of the sign captured at an International House of Pancakes location in Arkansas immediately went viral with users swarming Twitter to weigh in on the message which could become a public relations nightmare for the company that has served up delightful fare for over 60 years.
According to the sign, which was noticed by a visitor to the eatery: “Due to the fact that Biden gave out way too much free money and nobody wants to work anymore. We are forced to reduce our hours during this week.”
This was followed by the limited schedule which is bad news for early breakfasters and those seeking to get dinner during the week.
The picture was posted to Twitter by a user with the name Santa’s Flight Attendant who wrote, “Hey, @IHOP , my family and I genuinely enjoy going to your restaurants. But if this is corporate policy, I guess we won’t be visiting anymore. I know we’re just one small family, and we don’t matter, but we can’t eat at a place that condones this.”
Hey @IHOP , my family and I genuinely enjoy going to your restaurants. But if this is corporate policy, I guess we won't be visiting anymore. I know we're just one small family, and we don't matter, but we can't eat at a place that condones this. pic.twitter.com/wral1bw3aI

Triggered Biden supporters flooded the social media platform to air their grievances with many claiming that they will never again eat at IHOP – although it is unknown whether they were ever regular diners to begin with or that it is just another opportunity to lash out at critics of the increasingly unpopular president.
I used to not eat at @IHOP because their food is garbage. Now it'll be because their food is garbage, they treat workers like shit and blame it on Biden. https://t.co/PLZTyeb3d1

And now my family will find another Restaurant to eat at. We don’t have time for this kind of BS.. How pathetic that IHOP makes comments like this when Joe Biden is trying to protect American families..🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

This is unacceptable. IHOP won’t see me either. It’s a matter of principle. If a company disrespects the President then they don’t want my business.

Or you could just boycott IHOP since they seem to want to get into politics. pic.twitter.com/OFtMpbIJJa

Other Twitter users were generally supportive of the sign and dismissive of the leftist whining over it.
Hi @IHOP , my family and I have never been to your restaurant. But if this is corporate policy, I guess we will be visiting you soon. I know we’re just one small family and we don’t matter but we can’t wait to eat at place that has the courage to admit the obvious.

Don’t be mad because the manager is based. It’s true what he said about Biden.

This can’t be a Corporate decision can it? It’s poorly worded and does not seem official. I don’t think we should punish @Ihop for maybe what 1 restaurant is doing? Whadda think?

I think you should be talking to Biden and not IHOP.
Every single restaurant in the closest city to me is this way. Some are drive thru only and that’s due to not having enough staff to wait on people eating inside.

Just so happens I went to IHOP this morning. There was a 20 minutes wait for 3 or 4 groups while 10+ tables were open. They were not full. Just short staffed. So you can complain if you want but people unwilling to work because of all the free money, deferred rent etc is why.

Kudos to @IHOP for being truthful and not freaking woke. Think our family of 6 will stop by.

Don’t blame IHOP. They’re not the ones who’ve printed over $3 trillion this year.

Restaurants across the country have been hit hard by staffing shortages and it’s hard to argue that Biden and his fellow Democrats’ policies haven’t contributed to the problems with many feeling little incentive to work as long as they are getting handouts from the government.
