The news of the passing of iconic former Senator Bob Dole resulted in respectful tributes to a man who served his country in WW II and then became a model of dignity and loyalty to America during his long career in Washington, but some weren’t as respectful.
In the typical tasteless manner that could be expected of those to whom duty, honor and sacrifice mean nothing, blue check leftists took to Twitter to dance on Dole’s grave and to besmirch the legacy of a heroic American with their standard toxic snark with MSNBC anchor Mehdi Hasan leading the way.
Formerly of Al Jazeera, Hasan has a history of making disgraceful remarks including hateful rhetoric about non-Muslims and gays which he dismissed as “dump offensive ranty stuff” in a 2019 tweet and he was dismissive of Dole over his support of former President Donald J. Trump.
“Bob Dole, who endorsed and voted for Trump twice, and called himself a ‘Trumper’ as recently as July, has passed away,” he wrote in a retweet of a New York Times story announcing Dole’s death.

Dole lived to be 98-years-old and was a testament to perseverance, having been gravely wounded in combat when he was fighting the Nazis as a member of the Army’s 10th Mountain Division. He suffered a bullet wound that shattered his shoulder as well as damaged his spine and also lost a kidney. Following his being struck, Dole lay on the battlefield for six hours before being evacuated, he wasn’t expected to survive let alone return home where he would continue to serve his country in the U.S. Senate.
His war wound also left him temporarily paralyzed and after a long, painful recovery in a military hospital, Dole would suffer the effects for the remainder of his life. He was awarded two Purple Hearts well as the Bronze Star for his sacrifice, making the treatment from the blue check leftist trolls all the more despicable.
Others joined Hasan in unfairly maligning Dole, including leftist influencer Aaron Rupar who also suggested that he was unworthy of respect due to his support of Trump.
A significant part of Bob Dole’s legacy is his staunch support of Trump. He said “I’m a Trumper” as recently as July. https://t.co/3KguBBsCpe

Some were even more loathsome in their response to Dole’s death.
This one goes out to Bob Dole.
Good riddance, Trumper.

Well ‘Trumper’ makes sense.
He was also the guy who, after becoming known for promoting Viagra for Pfizer, was featured sitting in a dark room ogling a teenage Britney Spears in a Pepsi commercial… pic.twitter.com/acLvNU8BHg— Alexi Murdoch 🐋 (@aleximurdoch) December 5, 2021
Hasan was deservedly dragged for his disrespectful sentiment.
Mehdi Hasan, who has said non-Muslims are like animals*, has once more beckowned himself on Twitter dot com.

Bob Dole fought and was paralyzed in World War II so television pundits could trash him freely after his recently deceased body was still warm. https://t.co/tMNhz0iIJh

This is in bad taste @mehdirhasan. An unfortunate misjudgment.

The nation’s 45th president paid tribute to Dole in one of the statements that he has been forced to release since he was de-platformed by the leftist tech oligarchs who are waging an open war against free speech.

“Bob Dole was an American war hero and true patriot for our Nation. He served the Great State of Kansas with honor and the Republican Party was made stronger by his service,” Trump wrote. “Our Nation mourns his passing, and our prayers are with Elizabeth and his wonderful family.”
Another former Republican president, George W. Bush also paid tribute in his own statement, “This good man represented the finest of American values. He defended them in uniform during World War II. He advanced them in the United States Senate.”

Current President Joe Biden also paid his respects to Dole.
Bob Dole was a man to be admired by Americans. He had an unerring sense of integrity and honor. May God bless him, and may our nation draw upon his legacy of decency, dignity, good humor, and patriotism for all time.

As did Bill Clinton who defeated Dole in the 1996 election.
Bob Dole dedicated his entire life to serving the American people, from his heroism in World War II to the 35 years he spent in Congress. After all he gave in the war, he didn’t have to give more. But he did. His example should inspire people today and for generations to come. pic.twitter.com/8Iiy7ssGkD

Former President Jimmy Carter also mourned Dole’s passing.
We offer our deepest condolences to his family! https://t.co/5OfbjptMvC

Even Barack Obama, who has done much to contribute to the current state of racial and political acrimony in America, was compelled to salute Dole.
Senator Bob Dole was a war hero, a political leader, and a statesman—with a career and demeanor harkening back to a day when members of the Greatest Generation abided by a certain code, putting country over party. Our thoughts are with Elizabeth and the Dole family.
— Barack Obama (@BarackObama) December 5, 2021
Undeterred by his critics, Hasan doubled down.
I genuinely don't get it: Trump supporters are mad at me, and accusing me of 'smearing' Bob Dole, merely for pointing out that Dole supported Donald Trump in 2016 and 2020.
So they think it's a smear to support Trump but… they support Trump? 🤔 https://t.co/XOyZpHttXv
— Mehdi Hasan (@mehdirhasan) December 5, 2021
The contrast between the modern political left and the dignified political discourse of the past represented by Bob Dole couldn’t be clearer and Hasan’s tweets are merely an exclamation point on their current depravity.
