Young conservative firebrand Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-NC) extended the offer of an internship to Kyle Rittenhouse after he was found not guilty on all counts Friday for shooting and killing two protesters and wounding a third in self-defense during the 2020 Kenosha riots.
“Kyle, if you want an internship, reach out to me,” the 26-year-old freshman congressman stated in a viral video that was published Friday after the verdict was reached, triggering leftists.
“Kyle Rittenhouse is not guilty, my friends. You have a right to defend yourself, so be armed, be dangerous, and be moral,” he advised. Cawthorn is an outspoken proponent of gun rights and has been in Rittenhouse’s corner since the beginning.
He applauded the decision on his personal and congressional Twitter accounts. “ACQUITTED ON ALL CHARGES,” he declared in celebration, and then tweeted “NOT GUILTY.”

In an interview with WLOS-TV in April of 2021, Cawthorn took a strong stance against gun control in the United States.
“We need to absolutely lessen a lot of the restrictions we have on our Second Amendment rights in this country. We need to make it easier for law-abiding citizens to be able to acquire firearms. We need to make it easier for them to carry those firearms,” he proclaimed.
This is the second internship that Rittenhouse has been offered. Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) has also reached out to the young conservative. He offered him an internship on Wednesday before the jury rendered their verdict.

“He is not guilty and deserves a not guilty verdict,” Gaetz told Newsmax host Grant Stinchfield. “You know what, Kyle Rittenhouse would probably make a pretty good congressional intern. We might reach out to him and see if he’d be interested in helping the country in additional ways.”
Stinchfield replied, “So maybe we’ll have to fight for him. I want him here at Newsmax. Maybe he can be a Stinchfield intern too.”
“You guys pay way better at Newsmax,” quipped Gaetz. “But there’s nothing like the Hill.”

Cawthorn and Gaetz join a long list of conservatives who were thrilled at the verdict.
“I believe justice has been served in the Kyle Rittenhouse trial. I hope everyone can accept the verdict, remain peaceful, and let the community of Kenosha heal and rebuild,” Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) tweeted after the verdict was announced.

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) also cheered the verdict, declaring that prosecutors had overreached in trying to convict him:
“Justice was done in the Rittenhouse verdict. Renews our faith in the jury system. When prosecutors overreach as they did in this case, juries are there to insure justice for the defendant. It is not a perfect system—but still the best one in the world.”

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) was ecstatic as well, tweeting, “Today is a great day for the Second Amendment and the right to self-defense. Kyle Rittenhouse is not guilty on all counts! Glory to God!”

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) also celebrated, writing on Twitter: “Kyle Rittenhouse ACQUITTED on ALL charges! May Kyle and his family now live in peace. Those who help, protect, and defend are the good guys. Kyle is one of good ones.”

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz pointed out that we have a legal right to self-defense.
“We’re a nation governed by law, and the Rittenhouse verdict reminds us we have the moral & legal right to self-defense,” he tweeted. “For months, the Left unjustly tried to convict Mr. Rittenhouse. I pray now that those who wish to divide us don’t use this verdict as an excuse for violence.”

Democrat Tulsi Gabbard also rejoiced in the verdict: “The jury got it right—finding Rittenhouse not guilty on all charges. The fact that charges were brought before any serious investigation is evidence that the government was motivated by politics, which itself should be considered criminal.”
