Left-wing CNN commentator Ana Navarro-Cardenas inadvertently set herself up as a target for intense mockery last week by acting shock and appalled over the popular anti-Biden meme “Let’s Go Brandon.”

To hear her tell it, the meme is not only “offensive” but also “stupid” and “silly.”

“We live in America. We have freedom of speech -though employers have a right to restrict what you say on their time. My issue with ‘Let’s go Brandon’ thing, is not that it’s offensive. It’s that it’s stupid. If you’re gonna curse an elected official, why use a silly code phrase??” she wrote on Twitter last Tuesday.

Look:

While plenty of left-wing Biden worshipers rushed to express agreement with her, plenty of conservatives and centrists alike jumped at the opportunity to put the “hypocrite” commentator in her place.

Look (*Language warning):

As noted by the critics above, raging anti-Trump leftists spent four years (and counting) spewing vile insults about not only former President Donald Trump but also his wife and children.

Moreover, these leftists were routinely cheered by members of the establishment press. In some instances, members of the press joined in the attacks.

After then-first lady Melania Trump finished renovating the Rose Garden last year, for instance, Navarro joined other leftists in slamming her:

She at least kept it tactful. Many of her cohorts, on the other hand, resorted to genuinely offensive, patently racist rhetoric.

In one particularly disturbing screed, fellow establishment press figure Kurt Eichenwald tweeted that because Trump “is a foreigner … [s]he has no right to wreck our history.” He went on to disparage her as a “tasteless former Slovenian model” who was “only granted citizenship 14 years ago.”

Navarro has never uttered a single complaint about this rhetoric. Or about “comedian” Samantha Bee calling Trump’s eldest daughter a “feckless c-nt,” or about Hollywood actor Peter Fonda threatening to kidnap Trump’s wife and youngest son.

Only once President Joe Biden took office did Navarro and her peers suddenly start caring about decency and decorum.

As liberal journalist Matt Taibbi recently noted in Substack, anti-president “outbursts during the Trump years were not only not condemned, they were celebrated, as pundits and reporters for the first time told us directly profane insults of presidents were okay.”

But not anymore, apparently.

As for Navarro’s complaint about “Let’s Go Brandon” being “stupid” and “silly,” critics noted that the true stupidity and silliness lies in the way in which the meme was invented out of thin air by a member of the establishment press.

Following a NASCAR race last month, an NBC News reporter tried interviewing the race’s winner, Brandon Brown, but she was drowned out by a crowd of NASCAR Xfinity chanting “f–k Joe Biden” in the background.

For reasons that still remain unexplained, the reporter tried to play it off by pretending they were chanting something else.

“You can hear the chants from the crowd: Let’s go, Brandon!” she said.

In other words, she blatantly lied — which, incidentally, is something the “trusted” media have been caught doing again and again and again in recent years.

And so “Let’s Go Brandon” isn’t just an attack on the president — it’s an attack on members of the press, including Navarro:

“[I]t’s not just about Biden, it’s about the media gaslighting to protect Biden,” the latter Twitter user wrote.

Indeed, and Navarro is herself a master gaslighter.
