Dismal town hall ratings another disaster for Biden but good news for CNN

President Joe Biden’s dismal job performance continues to be a drag on his approval ratings as Americans are battered by skyrocketing prices along with shortages never before seen in the land of plenty and many are tuning out on his sorrowful messaging.

On Thursday, Biden sought to drum up support for his radically transformative agenda and appeared on CNN in one of the carefully controlled town halls that Democrats have used as a forum for their propaganda with his signature $3.5 trillion “Build Back Better” legislative package stalled in Congress.

The CNN-White House joint venture took place at the Baltimore Center Stage, in a city that while having a murder rate that is normally among the highest in the nation, remains a Democratic Party stronghold despite the ruinous effects of their policies, especially in neighborhoods that are predominantly black.

The “leader” of the nation prowled the studio stage along with anchor Anderson Cooper, exhibiting the peculiar mannerisms that he has demonstrated during his first nine months in office, at times appearing to be lost and at one point, seemed to grip an imaginary podium.

If the White House had hoped that millions of Americans would eagerly tune in to hear details about Biden’s legislative priorities, those hopes were crushed when the ratings came out showing that only 1.2 million viewers tuned in during the 8-9:30 ET time slot and drew a measly 271,000 viewers in the 25 to 54 demographic that is most desirable to advertisers.

In a column for The Hill, media critic Joe Concha dished on the numbers for what he mockingly referred to as Biden’s “safe-space CNN town hall,” a shot at the stacked audience of hand-picked invitees.

According to Concha, Fox News and Tucker Carlson blew Biden out of the water: “For context in the cable news race, an average of 2.83 million viewers watched Fox News’s Tucker Carlson (8 p.m.) and the first half of Sean Hannity (9 p.m.). That’s more than 1.6 million more viewers. Meanwhile, MSNBC’s Chris Hayes (8 p.m.) and Rachel Maddow (9 p.m.) attracted an average of 1.39 million viewers in taking second place.”

Concha also provided historical perspective, writing, “Biden drew 3.4 million viewers during his first town hall as president on CNN in February. Thursday night’s audience, marking more than a 60 percent drop,” a barometer of public sentiment toward Biden that is sinking faster than the Titanic.

However, the horrible ratings were actually good news for CNN which broke a 26-day slump during which none of its programs cracked the 1 million viewer mark, with the network struggling to attract viewers now that they don’t have former President Donald J. Trump to use as a nightly punching bag.

“The town hall was the first CNN program in a staggering 26 days that reached over 1 million viewers. The last time any regularly scheduled CNN program earned such an audience was Sept. 24.” Fox News reported.

Had Americans bothered to tune in to the town hall, they would have heard Biden’s ill-advised remark about China that suggested that the U.S. was prepared to go to war with the communist military powerhouse over Taiwan.

Cooper asked, “So, are you saying that the United States would come to Taiwan’s defense if China attacked?”

“Yes,” Biden responded. “Yes, we have a commitment to do that.”

The provocative remark sent the White House into damage-control mode and escalated tensions only days after reports that China has tested a nuclear-capable hypersonic missile.

Biden’s presidency has a serious Potemkin Village appearance to it and it only becomes more obvious with staged events like CNN’s town hall.
