Liz Cheney blasts Scalise for his bold answer on whether Biden won the election legitimately

U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., who is often referred to today as a “Pelosi Republican,” took great exception to how House Minority Whip Steve Scalise, R-La., answered a question on whether the 2020 presidential election was “stolen” from former President Donald Trump.

The answer from Scalise on Sunday was centered on the truth, but Cheney would take to Twitter to express her dissatisfaction while regurgitating Democratic talking points heard frequently on CNN and MSNBC about the “Big Lie.”

Scalise appeared on “Fox News Sunday” and host Chris Wallace posed a question in response to Trump claiming during a massive rally Saturday in Iowa that the election was stolen: “Remember, this is not about me being robbed of an election. This is about the American people having their country taken away from them.”

“Clearly there were irregularities in the last election; there are irregularities in all elections. I want to ask you a specific question: Do you think the 2020 election was stolen from Donald Trump?” Wallace asked. “And continuing to make that charge, not having states do election reforms, but specifically making this charge that the election was stolen. Do you think that that hurts, undermines American democracy?”

Scalise responded to stress that in a number of key battleground states, beginning with Pennsylvania, election laws were altered ahead of the November election without going through the state legislature, as required in the U.S, Constitution.

“If you look at a number of states, they didn’t follow their state-passed laws. That’s what the United States Constitution says. They don’t say the states determine what the rules are; they say the state legislatures determine …,” he began, before Wallace cut him off.

Sounding no different than a Democratic ideologue, Cheney tweeted in response: “Millions of Americans have been sold a fraud that the election was stolen. Republicans have a duty to tell the American people that this is not true. Perpetuating the Big Lie is an attack on the core of our constitutional republic.”

As seen in the clip, Wallace didn’t dispute the point Scalise was making, responding to his truthful reply to say, “But the states all certified.”

“But they didn’t follow those legislative rules,” Scalise shot back. “At the end of the day, are we going to follow what the Constitution says or not? I hope we get back to what the Constitution says, but clearly, a number of states didn’t follow those legislative rules.”

With so much focus on allegations of fraud and the insistence by the media that no evidence of large-scale fraud was produced, and that multiple court cases on the matter have been thrown out, the fact that mail-in ballots were a driving factor in the 2020 election has been muddied over. Millions of unsolicited mail-in ballots were sent out in many states under the guise that it was a safe alternative to voting in person due to the pandemic, and many states altered election laws to accommodate this development. The widespread use of mail-in ballots was seen on all sides as being ripe for fraud — at least, it was until 2020.

In Cheney’s eyes, Scalise was dutybound to confirm that President Biden was elected to office without incident — never mind that polling after the election showed that more than 70% of Republican voters believed the election wasn’t “free and fair,” and that 78% believed the extensive use of mail-in ballots spurred extensive voter fraud. Another 72% believed that ballot tampering occurred.

And before these results can be dismissed, this represents tens of millions of Americans who have little faith in the electoral process in America.

Vehemently anti-Trump, Cheney was named as vice chairwoman of Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s politically motivated Jan. 6 select committee “investigating” the attack on the Capitol — Cheney and fellow Trump-hating Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger, from Illinois, were hand-picked by the Democratic speaker to give the panel a “bipartisan” label. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy had submitted a list of names for the committee but Pelosi rejected his top two choices, prompting the GOP leader to pull all of his selections.

While there seems to be an orchstrated campaign on the left to divebomb Cheney tweets in a show of support — which speaks volumes in and of itself — there are those who can recognize a stench when they encounter it, that being the 2020 election. An election that saw a befuddled 78-year-old Biden draw almost 12 million more votes than the record number the Democratic messiah Barack Obama drew in 2008 to become the first black president in U.S. history.
