Biden and key democrats slammed in Saturday Night Live’s cold open

President Joe Biden and some of the most notorious Democrats were slammed during a “Saturday Night Live” cold open that included a subtle shot at Fox News host Tucker Carlson.

It’s the 47th season of SNL and many might say it’s not what it used to be, but at least they’re making an honest attempt to scold the obvious lunacy in politics by mocking Biden and people such as Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (and several others), particularly pointing at the massive bipartisan infrastructure bill laying on the table that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi couldn’t get a vote for yet.

And of course, to play fair, the show tried to shame Tucker Carlson, but his ratings suggest everything one needs to know about him.

Taking the role of Biden was James Austin Johnson who, acting as president, asked the audience how their summer went. He followed that up by shaming former Democrat Governor Andrew Cuomo and himself (as Biden) when he said about his summer: “Mine was bad — not Cuomo bad, but definitely not Afghanistan good.”

He kept going, saying: “Everyone keeps razzing me about that drone strike. But on the bright side, I went the entire summer without falling down the stairs once.”

SNL didn’t stop with Biden jokes and shortly after, mixed in notorious Democrats such as Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), and then Sens. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) and Joe Manchin (D-WV).

Sinema was portrayed by Cecily Strong and suggested that she “didn’t come to Congress to make friends” as a reference to the congresswoman putting her foot down against spending $3.5 trillion.

That was followed by Aidy Bryant appearing as Manchin who was labeled by Biden as the “de facto president.” Manchin has stood strong with Sinema in not supporting that massive $3.5 trillion reconciliation package Pelosi wants to be passed.

Later, it was Sasheer Zamata, playing the role of Omar, when Fox News’s Carlson was targeted.

“I was designed in a lab to give Tucker Carlson a heart attack,” the actress said. Although, in hindsight, Carlson is more likely to enjoy his excellent ratings among key demographics.

One of the most hypocritical jokes might have been that poking fun of Ocasio Cortez, portrayed by Melissa Villaseñor, and the ‘Tax the Rich’ dress she wore during the Met Gala. Villaseñor, as Ocasio Cortez, said: “I wore a dress that said ‘Tax the Rich,’ and then spent the whole night partying with the rich. Oops.”

SNL’s cast may not be like the days of legendary comic greats such as Eddie Murphy and Bill Murray, but at least they kept an open mind and poked fun at the same thing many Americans witness on a daily basis.

President Biden (James Austin Johnson), Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (Cecily Strong), Sen. Joe Manchin (Aidy Bryant), Rep. Ilhan Omar (Ego Nwodim) and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (Melissa Villaseñor) address the president’s infrastructure bill,” SNL’s description of the cold open video, which has over 1.4 million views at this time, read.
