MTG gets creative to drive a point: If Americans only knew what was REALLY in ‘infrastructure’ bill

Using simple memes, including a “Scooby Doo” one, Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene explained to the American people on Wednesday what the Green New Deal provisions hidden in Democrats’ infrastructure bill bode for them.

Speaking on the House floor, she urged Americans to pay attention because Democrats are trying to sneak subsets of the Green New Deal into the $3.5 trillion infrastructure package that they’re currently trying to push through Congress.

“It used to be a piece of legislation that most Republicans in the country laughed at and thought was some sort of high school project turned in as a House resolution. But it’s actually something that America needs to take serious because it’s written in the infrastructure bill and it’s written in the 3.5 trillion dollar budget,” she said.

To be clear, it’s not included in the “bipartisan” infrastructure agreement. But it is included in the $3.5 trillion infrastructure package. Some have described the provisions contained in the package as a “down payment” on the wider Green New Deal.

The congresswoman continued by arguing that if the American people knew what these policies entailed for them, “they would be ringing every single phone up here demanding that Congress go home, because America is only safe when Congress is out of session.”

To drive home her point, she unveiled a “Scooby Doo”-themed meme that showed a member of the “Scooby Doo” gang removing the mask from the New Green Deal to unveil the communist symbol.

“This is a simple meme that you would find on the Internet, but this meme is very real. The Green New Deal, surprise, serves China and China only,” she then said.

Critics have said that the Green New Deal would cripple America’s manufacturing and energy production, thus forcing the U.S. to increasingly rely on other nations, such as China, for both.

“Democrats want to turn the lights out on America. They want to shut down our economy. They want to end our energy independence and surrender America, putting us on our knees to China,” the congresswoman continued.

To further drive home her point, she then displayed a meme showing Chinese dictator Xi Jingping’s face and the words “I Own Joe Biden And Now I Own Afghanistan’s Lithium Deposits.”

“Democrats in Congress are happy to take every penny of Americans’ hard-earned paycheck to destroy our economy through the so-called Green New Deal. A complete government takeover of every aspect of our lives under the excuse of so-called climate justice,” she continued.

“This is not a theoretical idea for these people, unfortunately. You would think it’s a joke, but it’s not. No, they want to transform America into a third-world world country, and that’s exactly what these policies will do,” she added.

While the claim that Democrats seek to transform the U.S. into a third-world world country was a stretch — in that it can’t really be proven — the rest of her commentary was factually accurate.

A joint study conducted last year by the Competitive Enterprise Institute, the Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty, and the Power the Future nonprofit found that the Green New Deal in its entirety would “effectively destroy America’s energy industry, and with it, our entire economy,” as said in a press release at the time by Power the Future executive director Daniel Turner.

“Right now, our booming national economy and record low unemployment rate is driven by abundant, domestic, reliable, and inexpensive energy produced by millions of men and women across the country. Any policy that proposes to reverse this success is a threat to jobs, to rural communities, to national security, and to the very prosperity that Americans are experiencing,” he added.

Indeed, some of this has already come to pass because of President Joe Biden’s executive-level decision-making.

The problem, Greene continued in her floor speech Wednesday, is that Democrats stubbornly refuse to debate any of this. She cited her attempts to debate radical Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as an example.

“I had asked her to debate this policy because, you see, I believe in debate. I believe the American people deserve to know exactly what’s in these bills and the outcome and the effect on the economy,” she said.

“As a successful business owner who makes a profit and not a loss, I would like to debate my colleague from New York and talk to her about how her policies are actually going to destroy jobs and do nothing for the climate,” the congresswoman added.

Unfortunately, Democrats would rather just call Greene an “idiot” and dismiss her legitimate arguments than simply make an effort to defend their own policy proposals — proposals that, according to experts, are what’s truly idiotic.
