There is growing concern that there will be no accountability for the perpetrators of the Russian collusion hoax that served as the basis for the witch hunt against former President Donald J. Trump and his associates.
It has now been months since the last update on the work of John Durham, the intrepid federal prosecutor tabbed to get to the bottom of Crossfire Hurricane, the anti-Trump operation that led to the sweeping investigation by former special counsel Robert Mueller along with an unprecedented campaign to undermine a duly elected president and reverse the results of the 2016 election.
One lawmaker who fears that the results of Durham’s probe will never see the light of day is Rep. Devin Nunes, the ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee who expressed his feelings that the Biden administration will “bury” the long-awaited report, preventing it from being released publicly and covering the tracks of those who plotted against Trump as well as the question of who authorized the scheme.
During an interview with conservative media outlet Newsmax, the California Republican said that Biden’s Attorney General Merrick Garland “seems to be kind of a puppet for the Left,” which judging from his priorities in the early stages of the administration could be seen by many to be an accurate depiction of a man leading the war on political dissent.
Garland refrained from committing to the public release of the Durham report when he was put on the spot by Senator Chuck Grassley during his confirmation hearings earlier this year, dodging the question entirely.

Since he was appointed by then-attorney general William Barr in 2019, the Connecticut “bulldog” conducted a secretive investigation that dragged on long enough for Democrats to retake the White House along with control of the Justice Department and install Garland who arrived with a serious ax to grind after his nomination to the Supreme Court was sunk be Republicans.
In 2016, Garland was chosen by then-President Barack Obama to replace iconic conservative Justice Antonin Scalia after his shocking sudden death, the GOP-controlled Senate successfully kept him off the bench in an election year and Trump would later go on to nominate Neil Gorsuch who was confirmed.
Rep. Nunes’ remarks come after he expressed optimism last month that Durham’s work would result in justice being delivered.
“I’m still positive, and I guess I have to be, that people are going to go to jail, and they are going to be prosecuted for the Russia grand fiasco and the Russia hoax,” he said during an appearance on investigative journalist Sara Carter’s podcast last month.
Nunes added, “It may not be as broad as we want it to be, but look, there are some major perpetrators. I think, as you and everybody else know, we’ve made over 14 criminal referrals. That doesn’t mean 14 individuals. That means 14 different criminal referrals involving multiple individuals.”
Few have been more frustrated at the pace of Durham’s probe than Trump who spent his entire presidency under the cloud of the Russia collusion hoax despite Mueller coming up empty.

It’s hard to see any way that Biden and Garland are going to allow the release of Durham’s investigation, especially since the Obama White House may be implicated.
