9/11 families refuse to invite Biden to memorials until he ‘fulfills his commitment’ to them

The families of 9/11 victims have written a stinging letter to President Joe Biden informing him he is not welcome at memorials this year after he reportedly declined to declassify government documents concerning the terrorist attack.

Nearly 1,800 family members, first responders, and survivors signed the letter telling Biden to not bother attending events on the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks in New York City, Shanksville, Pennsylvania, and at the Pentagon “unless he upholds his pledge to declassify U.S. government evidence that they believe may show a link between Saudi Arabian leaders and the attacks.” Fifteen of the 19 hijackers were from Saudi Arabia.

“We cannot in good faith, and with veneration to those lost, sick, and injured, welcome the president to our hallowed grounds until he fulfills his commitment,” the families explained in a statement according to NBC News.

“Since the conclusion of the 9/11 Commission in 2004 much investigative evidence has been uncovered implicating Saudi government officials in supporting the attacks. Through multiple administrations, the Department of Justice and the FBI have actively sought to keep this information secret and prevent the American people from learning the full truth about the 9/11 attacks,” they stated.

“Twenty years later, there is simply no reason — unmerited claims of ‘national security’ or otherwise — to keep this information secret,” the group proclaimed. “But if President Biden reneges on his commitment and sides with the Saudi government, we would be compelled to publicly stand in objection to any participation by his administration in any memorial ceremony of 9/11.”

Brett Eagleson, who lost his father in the attacks on the World Trade Center, remarked: “We are frustrated, tired and saddened with the fact that the U.S. government for 20 years has chosen to keep information about the death of our loved ones behind lock and key.”

Biden “really needs to be the one to step up and take action,” Eagleson claimed while adding that the families look forward to a day when the president is “working with us and not against us.”

The heavily redacted 9/11 report gives just enough detail to make it evident that the Saudi government assisted the terrorists on that day. It contends that Omar al-Bayoumi, who “may be a Saudi intelligence officer,” gave “substantial assistance to hijackers Khalid al-Mindhar and Nawaf al-Hamzi after they arrived in San Diego in February 2000. Al-Bayoumi met the hijackers at a public place shortly after his meeting with an individual at the Saudi consulate.”

Al-Bayoumi “had extensive contact with Saudi Government establishments in the United States and received financial support from a Saudi company affiliated with the Saudi Ministry of Defense.” The company “reportedly had ties to Usama bin Ladin and al-Qa’ida.”

Osama Bassnan, who is said to have had “many ties to the Saudi government” and supported Bin Laden, bragged that he had helped al-Mihdhar and al-Hamzi more than al-Bayoumi did. He also “reportedly received funding and possibly a fake passport from Saudi government officials.”

The report also contends that “a member of the Saudi Royal Family provided Bassnan with a significant amount of cash,” and “he and his wife have received financial support from the Saudi ambassador to the United States and his wife.”

The ambassador in question is Prince Bandar. “No foreign diplomat has been closer or had more access to President Bush, his family, and his administration than the magnetic and fabulously wealthy Prince Bandar bin Sultan of Saudi Arabia,” asserted The New York Times.

There is more damning evidence. Shaykh al-Thumairy was “an accredited diplomat at the Saudi consulate in Los Angeles and one of the ‘imams’ at the King Fahad mosque in Culver City, California.” Al-Thumairy, “reportedly a Saudi Interior Ministry official, stayed at the same hotel in Herndon, Virginia where al-Hazmi was staying. While al-Hussayen claimed after September 11 not to know the hijackers, FBI agents believed he was being deceptive. He was able to depart the United States despite FBI efforts to locate and re-interview him.”

The 9/11 report redacted the name of “another Saudi national with close ties to the Saudi Royal Family.” It claims he was “the subject of FBI counterterrorism investigations and reportedly was checking security at the United States’ southwest border in 1999 and discussing the possibility of infiltrating individuals into the United States.”

There is also the matter of a CIA memo that “discusses alleged financial connections between the September 11 hijackers, Saudi Government officials, and members of the Saudi Royal Family.”

Biden reportedly made a campaign promise to the 9/11 families that once elected he would be more transparent and release as much information as possible. Since he was elected, however, his administration has ignored their letters and requests.

“I intend to be a President for all Americans, and will hear all of their voices,” Biden claimed during his campaign. “The 9/11 Families are right to seek full truth and accountability. … I will direct my Attorney General to personally examine the merits of all cases where the invocation of privilege is recommended, and to err on the side of disclosure in cases where, as here, the events in question occurred two decades or longer ago.”

The 9/11 families, first responders, and survivors found agreement on social media over disinviting Biden:
