The ongoing 2020 election audit in Arizona has former President Donald Trump convinced that significant voter fraud occurred in Maricopa County and that it’s now being covered up by everybody in the press, including Fox News’ Bret Baier.
In a statement issued Friday evening, the former president lashed out at the media over an Associated Press report confirming that “Arizona county election officials have identified fewer than 200 cases of potential voter fraud out of more than 3 million ballots cast in last year’s presidential election.”
He went in especially hard on Baier, who earlier in the evening had repeated the AP’s reporting near-verbatim on Fox News’ “Special Report.”
Listen:
The reporting outraged Trump, who pointed to the findings unveiled during an Arizona Senate hearing last week as alleged proof that there really was fraud.
“Fox News and other media outlets incorrectly side with the outdated and terrible Maricopa County Election Board to report no fraud found in the Presidential Election. They spew the gross misinformation purposefully put out by the county and the Associated Press, and IGNORE the very important Arizona Senate’s hearing yesterday,” his statement read.
During that hearing, the statement continued, auditors “showed 168,000 fraudulent ballots printed on illegal paper (unofficial ballots), 74,000 mail in ballots received that were never mailed (magically appearing ballots), 11,000 voters were added to the voter rolls AFTER the election and still voted, all the access logs to the machines were wiped, and the election server was hacked during the election.”
“They sided with the County and not the brave Arizona Senate who is fighting for the people of Arizona,” the statement added.
This isn’t entirely correct. Three auditors alleged these discrepancies and irregularities during the hearing. However, Maricopa County officials and “election experts” have disputed these allegations.
Take the 74,000 mail in ballots claim. According to The Washington Post, the claim “represents a misunderstanding of how early voting works in Arizona.”
“The claim mischaracterizes reports that are intended to help political parties track early voters for their get-out-the-vote efforts, not tally mail-in ballots through Election Day. The reports don’t represent all mail-in ballots sent out and received, so the numbers aren’t expected to match up, according to Maricopa County officials and outside experts,” the Post reported Friday.
But clearly, the former president trusts the auditors in Arizona over the national press and its team of “experts.”

Continuing his statement, the president zeroed in on Baier.
“The same anchor at the desk the night Fox called Arizona for Joe Biden now wants you to believe there was no fraud. The anchor was Bret Baier. Thankfully, Arizona has strong State Senators willing to fight for the truth,” the statement read.
The statement concluded with a nod to Arizona State Sens. Wendy Rogers, Kelly Townsend and Sonny Borrelli, all three of whom also believe the auditors over the national media.
“Senator Wendy Rogers says ‘I have heard enough. It’s time to decertify this election.’ Senator Kelly Townsend said the fraud was so bad ‘I want to see indictments.’ Senator Sonny Borrelli says ‘I’ve seen enough evidence to challenge the validity of the certification of the Maricopa County Election results.’ Arizona shows Fraud and Voting Irregularities many times more than would be needed to change the outcome of the Election,” the statement read.
All three senators have indeed made these remarks. Most notably, Rogers, a retired Air Force pilot, posted stunning tweets calling for the state’s electors to be recalled and a new election held.

Meanwhile, Townsend described the hearing as a “come to Jesus moment” and defended the auditors from accusations that they’re incompetent.
“It’s a come to Jesus moment. They’re accusing Cyber Ninjas of not being credible, and you know this information that’s going to come out, I’ll be very interested to see what their reaction is,” she said in an interview with Jordan Conradson.
“But if they’re not credible, then come forward with this information and prove them wrong. But instead, they have done nothing but obstruct, deny, distract and mock us.”
As for Trump and Fox News, they have been warring, to some extent, ever since the network made the stunning decision to prematurely call Arizona for then-Democrat presidential nominee Joe Biden on Election Night 2020.

In his latest book, gossip writer Michael Wolff claims the decision was approved by Rupert Murdoch, Chairman and CEO of News Corp., out of spite for Trump.
He claims specifically that Murdoch’s son, Fox Corporation CEO Lachlan Murdoch, received a call from the number crunchers at Fox News around 11:00 pm on election night.
The number crunchers reportedly told Lachlan that they were ready to call the election in Arizona for Biden, so Lachlan then dialed up his father to see what he wanted to do.
“Lachlan got his father on the phone to ask if he wanted to make the early call. His father, with signature grunt, assented, adding, ‘F— him,’” Wolff claims.
