One of “The Talk” co-hosts who threw former co-host Sharon Osbourne under the bus now faces potential cancellation herself.
On Wednesday, the Daily Mail published hot mic audio reportedly recorded in Osbourne’s dressing room immediately after her infamous confrontation with fellow co-host Sheryl Underwood, who’s black.
In the audio clip, another co-host, biracial woman Elaine Welteroth, can be heard consoling her, telling her that she’s not racist and also tacitly endorsing her theory that the show’s producers had set her up.
“They asked me to ask that question. I said no, I’m not going to ask that question. I said wait, what’s the intention of this conversation? Because this could go left so fast. I said to them: ‘This is going to be a train wreck,'” she said.
By that “question,” she meant the question that triggered the infamous feud between Underwood and Osbourne.

“Sharon, I am just so sorry that that went the way that it went,” she adds in the hot mic audio.
She continues by claiming both she and Underwood know that Osbourne isn’t racist.
“I know you’re upset. It was terrible. I just hope you know that once this blows over that you know that Sheryl is your friend. She really is your friend. She doesn’t think you’re racist. I don’t think you’re racist. No one who knows you would ever say that or think that,” she says.
Later in the clip, Osbourne claims the show’s producers “set me up.”
“They don’t care that I will now have to go around and [have] people think I’m racist. They don’t give a sh*t. They just want ratings. That’s all,” she says.
Welteroth appears to agree.
“And that’s the part that’s inhumane,” she says.
Listen to the whole clip below:
What’s strange about this audio recording is that it contradicts everything else that Welteroth has done and publicly claimed.
Immediately after Osbourne’s ouster, she reported Osbourne to HR and accused her of creating “a racially insensitive and hostile environment,” according to Page Six.
Then a month later, she posted a long Twitter thread suggesting that her former co-host’s setup accusation was a racist attack designed to make her and Underwood, both of whom are black, appear like “villains.”
Look:
So it is important that you hear directly from the Black women involved in this, especially in light of the false narratives and attacks on our character that have been orchestrated in the aftermath of the March 10th episode.

Even when Black women fight tears to maintain total composure and grace in the face of total disrespect, we are often still painted as villains.
— Elaine Welteroth (@ElaineWelteroth) April 14, 2021
In this case, that played out live for the world to see. Yet there is still a slice of America that is more inclined to believe a story they’ve been fed that plays into harmful stereotypes about Black women (being angry and threatening) than they are to believe their own eyes.

For the record: There was no ambush. There was no prep. And none of us wanted what happened.
— Elaine Welteroth (@ElaineWelteroth) April 14, 2021
In the thread above, she essentially called Osbourne a racist without actually naming her, despite having previously said privately that she agrees with her on everything.
This two-faced behavior has, incidentally, made Welteroth a prime target for cancellation herself. Look at the growing anger against her below:
Any comment to make now you’ve been outed as a liar with the recent tape of your convo with @MrsSOsbourne being published ?

@ElaineWelteroth = HYPOCRITE!!! ‘Just heard your hot mic audio. Dudette!!! Geez, where’s the integrity? Black, White, Brown, etc., integrity matters.

@ElaineWelteroth are you proud of yourself? They made me do it. No personal integrity. Just keep dividing us over color. Despicable

Her private and public comments and tweets are contradictory. She lied, and threw Sharon under the bus. Nothing excuses their BS.

What you know?
Aren’t you the one who said you “f**king know” Sharon Osbourne isn’t a racist to her face…
Then publicly stabbed her in the back, falsely claiming she was part of a “racist” work environment? pic.twitter.com/ECceqvsdLI

Osbourne, one of the original hosts of CBS’s “The Talk,” was effectively ousted from the show in March for the supposed crime of defending both herself and outspoken British political commentator Piers Morgan from dubious, convoluted allegations of racism.
During the March 10th broadcast of “The Talk,” Osbourne was confronted by Underwood for her support of Morgan, whom she described as a “long-time friend and work colleague,” and accused of perpetuating “white entitlement, privilege.”
The allegations of racism emerged after Morgan spoke out critically against “woke princess” Meghan Markle and her highly dubious claims that she was once suicidal because of the Royal Family’s alleged racism.
“[Morgan] doesn’t want to understand how Meghan was treated was racism and then says, ‘I don’t see it as being racist, I don’t believe what she’s going through.’ It’s that white entitlement, privilege that makes it racist upon itself,” Underwood said.
“So if you’re saying ‘I stand with you,’ how do you address people who say then you are standing with racism? I’m not saying that you are,” she then asked.
This line of questioning led to a fierce confrontation that ultimately resulted in Osbourne’s ouster from the show.
