A docuseries on Facebook is getting a lot of attention after featuring a transgender couple who tried to get their newborn baby to latch to the male-identifying-as-female parent’s chest.
“9 Months With Courtney Cox” is a Facebook-based show that documents the oftentimes unpredictable world of pregnancy and childbirth. As families tell their stories, critics claim that a notedly left-wing agenda began to emerge when two transgender people and their unexpected pregnancy were followed.
During the recording of the episode, Ahanu, female-to-male, and her partner Petrona, male-to-female, attempted to coax their infant child to suck on Petrona’s chest, despite the fact that they were not getting any milk.
“The baby has been able to latch, but I’ve not been able to produce any milk,” they said, despite receiving treatments aimed at stimulating lactation. “Being able to even be a part of a process where I’m trying to create milk and my body, it makes me feel very excited. I’m this baby’s mother, so by doing this it’s helping me feel really connected to the pregnancy.”
Conservative Matt Walsh condemned the “madness” of the family:
In this family the father identifies as the mother while the mother identifies as the father. The father is now attempting to breastfeed the baby
Don’t tell me nobody is harmed by these “lifestyle choices.” The baby is now condemned to this madness.

Throughout the episode, the couple expressed displeasure with the medical system that they say didn’t take their opinions or needs into account.
“They didn’t even speak to me,” Ahanu claimed.
“I just felt like they just made assumptions, making an assumption from the very beginning without even asking our names, not asking the thing about us,” Petrona said. As a result, they chose an at-home birth to reduce the “trauma” of the situation.
They also called being assigned gender at birth “violent” and lamented that The DC Department of Health’s Vital Records wouldn’t allow them to officially designate their child as non-binary, or any option outside of male or female.
“The gender binary was very violent, and growing up I had a gender assigned to me and it caused me a lot of unnecessary trauma,” Ahanu whined. “…It’s very lonely and isolating. Like I know [my parents] could do more.”
“I’m very uncomfortable with [labeling sex on a birth certificate],” Petrona noted. “There’s no medical benefits to knowing anything about a baby’s genitals. It is really unfortunate that that’s where the medical system is…all we are trying to do is let our baby tell us who they are.”
They also struggled with understanding that their families wouldn’t be happy with the way they were raising their child, with Petrona actually saying of their family: “their minds are filled with Christian supremacy” and claiming they are “trapped.”
“They’re stuck. There’s no escape. They’re trapped and to me, that’s really sad. I do not know if anybody other than my mother knows that we’re expecting a baby. It’s really sad because they’re missing out.”
People had a lot to say about the episode, and very little of it was complementary:
So the man is trying to give milk to a child through his chest? Perhaps someone should explain how this process works and perhaps where a a haircut facility is located. Drop the child off with CPS first

If it’s their biological child, then we know the “father” gave birth. So why can’t “he” do the breast-feeding too and let the baby have some milk for cryin’ out loud?!!!

Could you imagine this kid as an adult and they having to watch this video later in life? That shit would be traumatizing to see yourself milking your biological father.

This might be the most disturbing thing I’ve ever seen.

Why do the call their own child “the baby” and talk about him or her as some kind of school project?

I actually feel sick to my stomach having watched this. I cannot imagine the emotional trauma this baby will have to work through in the future. This is abuse. So, so so wrong.

Wait… where’s the milk supposed to come from?
Serious question.

Senator Kennedy weighed in on Fox News Tuesday, calling social media giants nauseously woke. “I trust them like I trust Bill Cosby as a bartender,” he joked.
