A CNN medical analyst argued Thursday that life needs to be made “hard” for those Americans who refuse for whatever reason to not get vaccinated from the coronavirus.

Dr. Leana Wen, who previously said she believes the Biden administration should sanction Americans who refuse to be vaccinated, made the case that it’s too easy right now for Americans to remain unvaccinated.

“It needs to be hard for people to remain unvaccinated. Right now, it’s kind of the opposite. It’s fine. I mean, it’s easy if you’re unvaccinated. You can do anything you want to do anyway,” she said.

This is mostly true because at the moment there are no coronavirus vaccine mandates either on the federal level or the state level, with some states having already banned them outright.

However, a few select businesses and schools have issued vaccine mandates, and Wen believes EVERY business, school, etc., needs to follow suit.

“I think it will be important to say, hey, you can opt out, but if you want to opt out, you have to sign these forms, you have to get twice weekly testing. Basically, we need to make getting vaccinated the easy choice. That is what it’s going to take for us to actually end the pandemic,” she said.

Wen maintains that this sort of authoritarian rule-making is necessary because of the so-called Delta variant.

“So now we have this Delta variant that is much more contagious. Because it’s more contagious, it’s going to be even harder for us to reach herd immunity. We’re going to have to vaccinate an even higher proportion of people to get there,” she said.

“What happens, then, if we end up having another variant developing that’s even more contagious, that could cause more disease, that could evade the protection of our immune system? And so, how quickly we can get this under control and which way we go depends on what we do now when it comes to vaccination, to overcoming disinformation.”

Speaking of disinformation/misinformation, Wen previously warned that discussing the lab-leak theory might inspire acts of racist violence against Asians.

Wen isn’t the only CNN commentator who’s shown support for vaccine mandates. Speaking on CNN the same day as her, fellow network medical analyst Dr. Jonathan Reiner also called for vaccine mandates to be instituted.

“I do think it’s time to start mandating vaccines. And I think that private industry and private organizations will do that. At [George Washington] University, where I work, starting this fall, you can’t be on campus unless you’re fully vaccinated,” he said.

This is true.

“GW will require students, faculty, and staff who are in person this fall to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19,” according to the private university.

“Look, I think that we’re at part of the pandemic now where the problem in this country is that 150 million Americans are not vaccinated. Half of that number is less than 18 years of age. But let’s look at the adults. 75 million adults have chosen not to get vaccinated. That choice has consequences,” Reiner continued.

“Now, we can’t force you to take a jab in the arm, but there are many jobs, perhaps, that can prevent you from working if you decide not to get vaccinated. So, I think we need to be more proactive and we will see industry take the lead in this.”

To their credit, Wen and Reiner do seem to at least realize that the Biden administration will most likely not be mandating vaccines.

But on the other hand, both are hopeful that the private marketplace will rush to take the government’s place as it already has done on so many politically charged issues, particularly those concerning individual rights and liberties.

The way it always works is that Democrats issue a demand at corporations, the media start broadcasting the demand nearly 24/7, the media’s readers and listeners threaten to boycott the corporations unless they comply with the demand, and finally, the corporations bend the knee to the Democrats.

That being said, would unvaccinated Americans actually be intimidated if private businesses/entities were to start issuing their own vaccine mandates?

While it’s hard to know for certain, perhaps the responses on Twitter give an idea of how they’d react:

The irony is that Wen used to be the president of Planned Parenthood, an organization that proudly proclaims “my body, my choice.”

But apparently, Wen isn’t pro-choice and has never been — she’s just pro-abortion.
