Joy Reid, Marco Rubio’s challenger trash him over posting Bible verses every day ‘for random reasons’

Of all things, the “angry race lady” over at MSNBC, Joy Reid, took exception to Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., tweeting Bible verses “every day for random reasons.”

Reid’s mocking of the Republican senator was a subtle in-kind contribution to her guest, U.S. Rep. Val Demings, D-Fla., who is running against Rubio in 2022. Largely seen as a left-wing zealot fronting for the Democratic Party, Reid would have likely been invested in trying to defeat Rubio, but considering he’s certain to face a black woman, the MSNBC host is surely chomping at the bit.

The segment with Demings began with Reid insisting that U.S. Rep. Paul Gosar, R-Ariz., is a “white supremacist.” She then tried to shame Rubio for not speaking out against his fellow Republican based on the opinion of the left — that’s when Reid mentioned the Bible verses.

“I have a question for you on a law enforcement sort of theme, does it surprise you — and Florida is a small world, as you and I both know —  that people like Marco Rubio, who you’re running against in the United States Senate, who tweets Bible verses every day for random reasons, these people aren’t saying to themselves, ‘I don’t want to be associated with white supremacists.’ Where is the Speaker? Where is Marco Rubio? Where are all these people who are constantly lecturing us about what history we’re allowed to learn? Why aren’t they saying anything?” Reid pontificated.

Rubio, who often talks about his faith, has been tweeting Bible verses for some time, and while Reid may be perplexed about this “random” act, believers understand that it’s called promoting God and His word.

“Well, a long time ago, someone told me I’d rather see a sermon any day than to hear one,” Demings replied. “So Rubio can send out all of the Bible verses that he wants to. We’re looking at not what he says but what he does.”

She regurgitated Reid’s talking point, before launching into her own campaign talking point about Rubio not backing Democrats’ effort to establish a commission to investigate the Jan. 6 protest at the U.S. Capitol.

“We’re talking about a man, as you’ve indicated, thank you for bringing it up — who has not said one word to denounce white supremacists — since he’s been in office, by the way,” Demings said. “We’re talking about a man who voted against an independent commission that would investigate the insurrection that occurred on 1/6. And so again, we know them by the fruit that they bear. Rubio has not delivered. And as you know, that is exactly why I am running. Florida deserves better.”

The irony here is that Demings offered a mangled version of Matthew 7:15–20:

15“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. 16You will know them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thorns, or figs from thistles? 17In the same way, every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. 18A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20Thus you will know them by their fruits.

As for white supremacists, this is a contrived crisis fabricated by Democrats, who use fear to ensure black voters continue supporting the party.
