Fox News contributor and host Tammy Bruce railed at rival MSNBC host Joy Reid on Friday after the latter erroneously claimed the ongoing border crisis is “nonexistent.”
To begin the segment on “Hannity,” Bruce played a clip of Reid mocking South Dakota Republican Gov. Kristi Noem as “the roaming Noem” for her decision to send dozens of her own National Guard troops to assist Texas law enforcement and federal border authorities who are dealing with unprecedented illegal migrant traffic and drug smuggling.
“The roaming Noem is back at it again. It would appear as the Inaugural ‘Absolute-Worst’ (Noem) is jealous of all the attention the record-holders [GOP Govs. Greg Abbott of Texas and Ron DeSantis of Florida] are getting, so she is sending South Dakota’s troops roaming,” Reid said. “[T]roops are being deployed in response to Greg Abbott’s plea for more border security for a nonexistent crisis.”
Bruce clapped back at Reid as she went on to cite example after example of accounts, including video clips of interviews, from Border Patrol personnel, local law enforcement, and Americans living along the border who are testifying that they’ve never seen certain sectors so overrun.

She described the situation as a “self-inflicted catastrophe” brought on by President Joe Biden’s reversal of former President Donald Trump’s enforcement policies — to include his “Remain in Mexico” program — and Vice President Kamala Harris’s inability to bring the situation back under control after being assigned as ‘border czar’ by Biden in the latter part of March.
“Nonexistent? Border encounters are on pace for a decade high. Cartels are emboldened. Human smugglers are operating in plain sight, drugs are pouring into our country, and authorities are completely overwhelmed. Remember, there is nothing compassionate about illegal immigration and nothing compassionate about incentivizing this treacherous journey,” Bruce observed.
Bruce went on to point out that in Reid’s false claims about the border, she ignores the seriously dangerous situations Americans living in heavily trafficked border regions are facing, going on to play a “Fox & Friends” clip of a Del Rio, Texas, mother who says she’s too afraid to allow her daughters to play in the family’s front yard because illegal aliens and alien smugglers are rampant in the community now.
“That’s awful,” Bruce said in response to the clip.
“Don’t forget, when Donald Trump left office the border was as secure as it ever had been but then Biden scrapped the highly successful Remain in Mexico policy. He ended construction of the border wall, he reinstituted catch and release and his open borders rhetoric sent a message to migrants – no more border enforcement,” she said, before bringing in Thomas Homan, former acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, who spent three decades in a border security role.
“The border’s in complete chaos,” Homan began, adding that the current situation is “the worst I’ve ever seen it” before addressing Reid directly.
“For the first lady that spoke to say there’s not a crisis, I suggest that she go down to the Rio Grande Valley (in Texas) — something that Kamala Harris didn’t do — and spend one hour with the Border Patrol,” Homan said, noting he’s been to the region four times in recent months and has witnessed the situation first hand.
He also said that during a meeting with 100 sheriffs in Arizona in recent weeks, many of them who work in border counties, Fentanyl smuggling has also dramatically increased.
But it’s also taking a toll on migrants, Homan said.
“One border sheriff alone told me he’s already found 44 dead migrants” this year alone, he said.
“Forty-four…in one county,” he continued, adding that Reid’s dismissal of the crisis is also “an insult” to the men and women who work in border enforcement.
