‘We are hypocrites’: Greg Gutfeld rallies to get back in Fox studio, ditch covid protocols enforced by ‘legal BS’

Thursday on “The Five,” Fox News co-host Greg Gutfeld went off on the network’s COVID safety protocols calling those appearing on air “hypocrites” for giving advice on the pandemic while staying apart after having been vaccinated and/or contracting the virus.

Gutfeld railed against those wearing masks outdoors because he contended COVID is an indoor virus, not an outdoor one: “This is an indoor illness, not an outdoor illness.” He slammed President Joe Biden’s threat that vaccine hesitancy could result in extended COVID-19 restrictions which would basically cancel Fourth of July celebrations.

Gutfeld then proceeded to call out everyone on Fox News over the network’s policies concerning the pandemic: “And I will say this and then I will shut up. We are hypocrites when we are giving our own advice on this because all of us I believe have been vaccinated. Some of us have had COVID and been vaccinated which essentially makes you superhuman.”

Gutfeld wasn’t finished and continued: “Lecturing people on the science as we are sitting in our isolated boxes, is it really correct? I think that it’s like, ‘we have to send a message.’ I mean, what message are we sending by being separate right now? I think it’s time to return to the studio. And start seeing each other, looking at each other in the eye when we’re talking so we know they are not interrupting each other so we can actually–I feel like every day we’re in a batting cage and I would rather like to be passing the ball around. And we weigh the benefits and the risks.”

“So let’s get back in the studio. There’s no science. We have the vaccines and we have the rapid testing. There is no reason for us to be doing this all the time unless it’s legal B.S., which is the case for everything in life. We’re controlled by lawyers. Sorry!” Gutfeld continued.

He snarked on his new show concerning Biden’s warning: “On Wednesday, President Biden actually warned Americans they may have to cancel their Independence Day outdoor gatherings, what we call picnics or what Hunter calls a foursome.”

Gutfeld went on to quip: “But like a coffee enema Gwyneth Paltrow tries to sell you online, this is not based on science. If Joe tries to enforce such an order, he might see a countrywide yawn, since healthy people have already been meeting outdoors anyway (because unlike Joe, we aren’t afraid of tumbling up a flight of stairs in the slightest gust of wind)).”

“The White House once again sounds disconnected from reality. Asking people not to gather outside on July 4 is like asking migrants not to illegally cross our border just yet or requesting that Major not take a dump under the Resolute desk,” Gutfeld humorously noted.

The Daily Beast’s Justin Baragona pounced and claimed that Gutfeld “went rogue”: “Pretty sure Greg Gutfeld went rogue here. He says that The Five should get immediately back into the studio, which was stopped after Juan Williams caught covid. “There is no reason for us to be doing this all the time. This is legal B.S.! … we are controlled by lawyers.”‘

“The Five” went back to their studio last September and socially distanced their stools six feet apart. However, Juan Williams, who is 67-years-old and a cancer survivor, came down with the virus and they went back to remotely videoing the show. Many of Fox’s shows have returned to the studio to resume normal reporting.

In March, Lachlan Murdoch, who is the CEO of Fox News parent company Fox Corp., issued a company-wide memo informing all employees that they would still work remotely through the spring and summer and that they would not return to their offices until after Labor Day.
