Fox News’ Laura Ingraham ripped President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for comments they made after jurors found former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin guilty of murder and manslaughter in the death of George Floyd.
As she began her opening monologue on Tuesday evening following the verdict after jurors deliberated for about 10-and-a-half hours, she played a clip of the president and vice president echoing claims may by many other Democrats and black activist organizations that America is inherently and irredeemably racist.
“That’s the big lie. Systemic racism,” Ingraham said.
“Did Joe Biden always believe that the nation was racist to its core? Did he believe this when Barack Obama and he were elected not once but twice? Historic elections,” Ingraham went on. “What about the 1965 Civil Rights Act?”
The left, she continued, sees Floyd as “a stepping stone to tearing down America” while convincing as many blacks as possible “that all police hate them and will never be fair to them.”
Ingraham went on to chastise Democrats and media pundits who she says conflate the case involving Floyd “with every other one involving an African American and law enforcement.” She went on to single out Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison, a former Democratic congressman for the state, who, as an officer of the court, “knows it is wrong and is nonsensical to generalize across disparate fact patterns, different types of evidence, totally different cases — but he does it anyway.”
Ingraham, herself an attorney, then played a clip of Ellison giving a speech in which he lists the names of a number of black men and women killed by police in recent years, though most of them were ultimately ruled as justified or not due to any fault of the officer.
“This has to end,” Ellison said. “The work of our generation to put an end to the vestiges of Jim Crow and the centuries of trauma and finally put an end to racism.”
“That is a laudable goal — that’s what we all want,” Ingraham said in response. “But they cling to the big lie. And they want to reprogram all of America to believe that justice isn’t served when just one individual pays for criminal wrongdoing — for them, punishment has to be wide-reaching and never-ending.”
“That lie, what does it do? It drives us apart and it sends so many Americans back into their respective corners and cuts off conversations, it doesn’t start them.”
Ingraham went on to speculate that Democrats perpetuate “the big lie” as a means of covering for bad policies that actually hurt the poorest blacks and other minorities, citing, most recently, restrictions and lockdowns that went on for months ostensibly due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Later, she said that the U.S. is an inherently good country with “good people,” and that occasional acts of “racism” do not define the entire populace.
“The fact of the matter is, we live in a great country, with overwhelmingly charitable good people,” Ingraham said. “Acts of depravity and racism do not define us and we despise it collectively. We want the law applied equally and fairly across the board, which is what our Constitution requires. When we see innocent Americans brutalized we’re disgusted and we pray for justice.”
The host finished by accusing Biden of being “incapable” of telling Americans the truth.
