Former President Donald Trump sat down with Fox News host Sean Hannity for a full hour Monday night, covering a wide range of issues.
One of the highlights was Trump insisting that if the Republican Party wants to win, they should embrace his “Make America Great” platform which brought new voters into the party, making the GOP more of a working-class political party.
Pointing to 2022, Hannity named some of the key bellwether states in saying House races here may be “a precursor or a preview of coming attractions for 2024.”
“Should this now be the Republican Party agenda,” he asked. “Should anybody that wants to run for the House or the Senate, should they take this ‘Make America Great’ agenda and fight for those things that you fought for the four years you were president?”
“If they want to win, yes,” Trump replied. “We have expanded the Republican Party.”
Naming Texas, he said the GOP has the biggest Hispanic vote since reconstruction.
“As the governor said to me, he called me up — great governor — he said since reconstruction,” Trump said. “I said you’re talking about the Civil War, right? He said since Civil War. If you want to win and win big, you have to do that. You have to do it.”

The humanitarian crisis on the southern border came up, with Hannity noting the “virtual silence” from the media, before suggesting that if a daycare facility had the same conditions it would be shut down.
“You’d be shut down and charged with child abuse,” he said.
“They would not stand for it, and they’re playing it down as much as they can play it down,” Trump said of the media. “It’s a horrible situation, could destroy our country.”
“People are pouring in, but you’ll see something as the months go by that you’ve never seen before. Already it’s like you’ve never seen before. There’s never been anything like what’s happened at our border and people are coming in by the tens of thousands,” he added.
Hannity asked Trump what he missed most about being in the White House and how serious he was about considering running again in 2024?
“I miss the most helping people, because I can directly help people,” he said. “That’s why I did it. Look, this has been a very traumatic — I had a great life, great company, great business, no problems. And now, all I do is people go after you. It’s vicious. It’s horrible. But you know what? I love doing it because I help people.”
As for what he’s most proud of, the former president said first and foremost that he was proud of the tax cuts, though he expects President Joe Biden to “screw it up.” He also named the creation of the Space Force, and the pre-COVID economy.
Hannity then asked, “Are you running again in 2024? What are the odds?”
“First of all, it’s a long time. The odds, the odds — what are the odds? Look, I’ve got tremendous numbers. Nobody has ever gotten the numbers I got. No sitting president has come even close,” Trump explained. “There is more popularity now than there was the day before the election because they see how bad things are at the border, they see what’s going on, they see that their guns are going to be gone, their Second Amendment, their taxes are going up, regulations are going through the roof, jobs are going to go out. ”
“So, I say this. I am looking at it very seriously. Beyond seriously,” he added. “From a legal standpoint, I don’t want to really talk about it yet. It’s a little too soon.”
Early on, Trump questioned whether Biden “knows what’s going on.” Pointing to what he called a “cabal,” he said, “You have a group of people that are sitting around a table just saying do this, do this, do this.”
It proved to be a full serving of red meat for the base.

Other highlights included the former president speaking well of the performances of Republican governors, naming Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, as compared to blue state governors.
TRUMP: “Some governors were fantastic… Some were less than fantastic, and some were absolutely terrible. Ron did a great job, Texas did a great job…”
HANNITY: “Most red states.”

Conservative talk radio host Tammy Bruce summed the interview up well in noting the display of leadership seen from Trump during the interview was refreshing, compared to the always scripted few moments from President Biden.
