For the better part of a year, cities like Portland and Minneapolis have been torn apart by presumably anonymous gangs of looters and arsonists. I have asked myself the question that our corrupt media refuse to ask—how come the government isn’t preventing this anarchy? It is nothing short of appalling that our nation is willing to look the other way as its laws are openly violated. We have a right to feel confident that our police are capable of protecting us. As it stands, that confidence is on shaky ground.
Neville Chamberlain proved in 1938 that appeasement never works. When the police stand by or run away, they are inviting more violence. In place of civil order, we seem to be at the mercy of the anarchists. What we are witnessing now is only the beginning. Unchecked violence means looting will not be limited to public areas. You can expect looting to occur in your home as home invasions become commonplace. Our streets will require patrolling by the National Guard on a permanent basis. You will not be able to leave home without armed protection. If you think the coronavirus lockdown is unpleasant, it will seem like a piece of cake compared to the breakdown of order in our streets.
As I watched looters emptying out a Walmart this evening, the way to end the violence was clear. Here is my simple proposal: To stop looting, all it takes is for one police officer to fire a single shot in the air. This is especially effective indoors. It doesn’t even require a live round. A blank round will do just as well. I can promise you that when the looters hear that shot, they will disappear faster than the speed of light.
The only effective way to end violence is to nip it in the bud. Newt Gingrich’s formula for riot control has my endorsement. “When faced with a mob with a high potential for violence and property destruction,” Gingrich said, “the streets should be flooded with the forces of civilization. If on the first night, the city of Minneapolis and the state of Minnesota had fielded the 13,000-member National Guard there would have been no violence.” The sooner the violence is contained, the better. “Massive strength leads to the smallest loss of life and the least property damage,” Gingrich says. “It also discourages others from joining the violent faction.”
If the solution is so simple, you may ask, then why hasn’t it been adopted? The answer is just as simple. The Democratic Party doesn’t want an end to civil disturbance. Why do you suppose we have a chorus of voices in Democratic-run jurisdictions telling us to defund the police? The elite who are driving all of this are using the protestors to create an atmosphere that will justify increased government control. The Left would love to see martial law. Out of that chaos will come a Stalinist state with power going to a few—a tyranny of the minority.
When you realize that the Democrats’ goal is power, it becomes clear. Leftist behavior is racist, fascist, and hateful. Their ultimate objective is the transformation of America into an authoritarian socialist nation run by an elite composed of unaccountable bureaucrats. This version of America is antithetical to the rights of the individual, which represent the cornerstone of our republic.
We can see all of this playing out in Europe. The objectives of the European Union are identical to those of the American Left. A cadre of unelected bureaucrats in Brussels is attempting to break down the nation states that comprise the EU so the elite can seize control. If the American Left succeeds, the United States in 2041 will be unrecognizable to most of us who are alive today but familiar to those who have lived in Cuba, Venezuela, or North Korea. The time to prevent it is now.
