The fact that much of the media worked doggedly for four long years to undermine and attack former President Donald Trump at every turn only serves to make media attempts to run interference for President Joe Biden stand out like a sore thumb.
Not that this deters the profession from doing so, as seen from ABC 11 News, based in Durham, North Carolina, although the ABC affiliate should have stopped while it was ahead.
After taking on low hanging fruit like claims that Biden restored taxpayer funding for the Wuhan Institute of Virology, suspected by many to be the birthplace of COVID-19, or that he blocked Texas from generating adequate power during the recent statewide emergency, or tweeted that he was “proud” to see Coca-Cola train its staff in “cultural reappropriation” — i.e., be less white — ABC 11 debunked a fabricated Biden tweet on minorities not being able to use the internet.
While the tweet was fake, Biden did say at a Feb. 16 CNN town hall that many “in the Hispanic and the African American community” don’t know how “to get online.”
A misleading ABC 11 tweet said: “No, President Biden did not tweet about “minorities not being able to use the internet.”

No, Biden did not tweet that — he said it. ABC 11 included Biden’s quote, but the lead was debunking a relatively obscure phony tweet, which could cast doubt on the real story.
“In his response, Biden talked about access to the vaccine being a physical obstacle for marginalized communities and said some people lack the internet access needed to get key information,” the affiliate reported, adding his exact quote seen here:

“A lot of people don’t know how to register,” the president said. “Not everybody in the community – in the Hispanic and the African American community, particularly in rural areas that are distant and/or inner-city districts – know how to use – know how to get online to determine how to get in line for that COVID vaccination at the Walgreens or at the particular store.”
And while the media can fool all the people some of the time and some of the people all the time, they cannot fool all the people all the time, as seen in the online response.
Here’s a sampling of those responses from Twitter:
You are being intentionally misleading.
Biden said it out loud. On video. And you’re trying to cover it up.From your own article: pic.twitter.com/pmP880bHdF

He said it aloud–is the rule now, “Tweet or it didn’t happen”? You water carriers are just sad.

No, just said it and it’s on video to be kept for posterity.
Nice try running interference to gaslight for him.— Dean (@digitaldean) March 2, 2021
