Nancy Mace describes living rent-free in AOC’s Twitter account all week

First-term U.S. Rep. Nancy Mace says that she has metaphorically “been living rent-free” in Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Twitter account over the New York Democrat’s melodramatic claim that she feared for her life during the January 6 riot at the Capitol.

Mace (R-S.C.) was the recipient of a series of aggressive, hostile tweets after the congresswoman implied that Rep. Ocasio-Cortez was embellishing what actually happened.

“I’m kind of mind boggled by the whole thing,” she admitted during an interview with Fox News Channel host Steve Hilton. “Telling the truth gets you attacked in this country? That’s not the American way.”

Mace provided some additional background when “The Next Revolution” host asserted that the far-left Democrat seldom appreciates being challenged.

“Honest to goodness, I originally started out kind of going after the media’s depiction of her account of the whole thing,” she explained. “And then, the very next day I simply, literally, just tweeted one sentence, that said there were not insurrectionists in the hallway, and I was two doors down from her. And it was mass hysteria for like two days, and I’ve been living rent-free, I guess, in her Twitter account all weekend as well.”

Both lawmakers were in their respective offices in the Cannon building when wrongdoers stormed the Capitol.

“In Mace’s fundraising email to supporters, she doubled down that Ocasio-Cortez was embellishing the level of danger she faced on Jan. 6, writing, ‘[U]nlike AOC, I deal in facts, not fiction, and the fact is: She was safe in her office,'” Fox News reported. Ocasio-Cortez slammed Mace for fundraising, accusing her on Twitter of “dishonesty and opportunism.”

Politicians on both sides of the aisle, however, continually and opportunistically seize upon events to rake in campaign cash.

As far as moving forward on a legislative agenda to reboot the economy amidst the pandemic, she described the atmosphere in Congress as a lot like an episode of the Jerry Springer Show: “There is so much work we have to be doing, but we’re distracted by all this division and social media. It’s very frustrating because we’re paid a good amount of money to do a job, and we need to be working.”

In the context of unity and the possibility of bipartisanship in enacting legislation, she cautioned that “Democrats just want it their way, and only their way.”

During the interview, Mace also called out House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for flouting her own rules that require everyone in the House to go through a metal detector. Two GOP congressmen have already been fined for noncompliance.

“Do as I say, not as I do; typical politics in D.C. As a matter of clarity here, there’s nothing constitutionally that can prohibit a seated member of Congress from entering the chamber of Congress to take a vote,” she said. “And so what we’re doing here is totally unconstitutional, and she won’t even live by her own rules.”

Mace got into another dust-up with Ocasio-Cortez when the latter unfairly accused her of minimizing the experiences of survivors.
