The 2020 election has finally concluded, with the last remaining seat in dispute having been decided in favor of the Republican challenger.
After weeks and weeks of courtroom battles, on Friday the New York Supreme Court ordered all eight counties included in former Rep. Anthony Brindisi’s district to certify the election results in favor of challenger Rep.-elect Claudia Tenney.
As a result, Republicans are now up 12 seats from where they were previously, paving the way for them to make a full-scale comeback come 2022.
“Ms. Tenney held a mere 109-vote lead over her opponent, Anthony Brindisi, a moderate Democrat who was seeking re-election in New York’s 22nd Congressional District, following months of litigation and a series of twists and turns over how hundreds of contested ballots should be counted,” The New York Times reported.
“The ruling will allow Ms. Tenney to return to Washington, where she established herself as a close ally of President Donald J. Trump,” the report continued.
In a statement, Tenney saluted Brindisi for a “hard-fought campaign.”

“I’m honored to have won this race. It was a hard-fought campaign and I thank Anthony Brindisi for his service. Now that every legal vote has been counted, it’s time for the results to be certified,” she said.
Tenney’s late victory wasn’t easily earned, as she had to battle the same sorts of legal challenges that were applied against President Joe Biden by former President Donald Trump.
“Rep. Anthony Brindisi on Wednesday declined to concede the 22nd Congressional District election to Claudia Tenney and told voters to prepare for a prolonged count of absentee ballots,” The Post-Standard blasély reported on Nov. 4th.
The difference is that, whereas Trump was smeared by Democrats and their media allies for not immediately conceding, Brindisi was not.

Even now, the media continue to shrug in indifference as Brindisi continues to vow more challenges.
“The Brindisi campaign has argued that several hundred ballots that were rejected should have been counted and it has signaled that it could appeal the election results,” according to the Times. “Mr. Brindisi could also seek recourse in the House of Representatives, which has the power to order a new election or recount in the race, and potentially unseat Ms. Tenney.”
In a Twitter statement reminiscent of some of former President Trump’s complaints, Brindisi said he was “shocked and surprised” by the New York Supreme Court’s decision.
Look:
I am shocked and surprised by this decision because of the countless errors and discrepancies that have occurred throughout this initial count. I believe a full audit and hand recount is the only way to resolve this race.

With the margin so thin, the ever changing tally, and the countless errors that have occurred arriving at today’s final number we can’t afford to wonder here. We have to get it right.
— Anthony Brindisi (@ABrindisiNY) February 5, 2021
Because this is not a raffle, this is a congressional election. The law that took effect January 1 says we should abide by hand counts whenever the margin is 0.5% or less— it’s even closer here right now.
— Anthony Brindisi (@ABrindisiNY) February 5, 2021
Let’s follow that rule, get this right for our constituents and count all the 325,000-plus votes. It’s shocking, right now, no one knows who actually won this race. My opponent and I deserve true clarity. #NY22

The irony is that after the riot at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6th, Brindisi joined his fellow Democrats in blaming Trump’s legal election challenges for it.
“He said Trump needs to publicly accept the results of his election loss to President-elect Joe Biden and stop the angry rhetoric that incited his supporters to violence,” as reported by The Post-Standard.
“He has to stop giving his supporters this false sense of hope that the election results can be overturned. Fifty states have certified this election, there have been over 60 court challenges, and there has been no evidence of widespread fraud that would overturn the results,” the now-dethroned lawmaker reportedly said at the time.
Funny, because the same thing is true of his election.
“Every single valid vote that was cast in New York’s 22nd Congressional District has been accounted for, and counted,” New York Supreme Court Justice Scott DelConte wrote in Friday’s ruling, adding that there was no fraud.
The fact that Brindisi is continuing to maintain allegations of fraud and irregularities despite this well — well, it’s triggered a karmic dose of backlash.

This is incitement.

Shameful attack on Democracy.

Youre inciting a riot sir.

@SpeakerPelosi @jack @TwitterSupport he is making false claims and instigating a riot based on the standards you established over the past 4 months.

Apparently you can promote voter fraud conspiracy theories on Twitter so long as you are a Democrat.

ℹ️ This claim about election fraud is disputed

As of Sunday morning, Twitter had still not censored Brindisi’s tweets or at least applied a fact-check to them. Knowing the social media network’s bias, the reason why should be obvious.
