Pelosi: Trump could be an accessory to murder ‘because he instigated that insurrection’

Not content with impeaching outgoing President Donald Trump on dubious charges again, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has now taken to suggesting that the president should be charged with being an accessory to murder.

Speaking with MSNBC’s Joy Reid during an exclusive interview that aired Tuesday evening, Pelosi specifically blamed the storming of the U.S. Capitol and the deaths that resulted from it on the president.

She offered the dubious legal take after being asked whether her Democrat colleagues in Congress had essentially collaborated with the rioters.

“Here we are now because of the instigation of that president, that dark president. We have security beyond any history or just anybody ever thought would be the need. And why? Because this president has been telling people that the election was not legitimate, and these people believe him. They believe a president. They believe a president,”  her response began.

“President’s words are important. They weigh a ton. And if you’re Donald Trump talking to these people, they believe it. And they used his words to come here. So, when we talk about did any of our colleagues collaborate, well, that remains to be seen. We have to get the evidence of that. And if they did, they would be accessories to the crime. And the crime, in some cases, was murder.”

There is no evidence whatsoever that her colleagues “collaborated” with or even encouraged the Capitol rioters. The same applies to the president, though that didn’t stop Pelosi from offering her unsubstantiated legal conclusion.

“And this president is an accessory to that crime because he instigated that insurrection that caused those deaths and this destruction,” she added.

This theory is based on the widely-touted claim by the left that the president’s legal challenges to the 2020 presidential election results were the cause of the U.S. Capitol riot.

But if this standard were to be applied fairly and evenly to the left, a stunning number of congressional Democrats and their media allies would also be guilty of being an accessory to murder.

Over the summer a plethora of them repeatedly promoted the deadly Black Lives Matter and Antifa riots that devastated the country.

Unlike the president’s legal challenges to the election, nothing about the riots was legal.

At least 700 police officers were injured, over 150 federal buildings were damaged and at least 23 people were killed.

Meanwhile, several of Pelosi’s own Democrat colleagues — most notably Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez — acted as if all of this was OK.

In the midst of the riots, AOC argued that allegedly “marginalized” people “have no choice but to riot.” She issued the remarks two weeks after an Antifa extremist had fire-bombed an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention center in Tacoma, Washington. When asked at the time to condemn the attack, she refused to answer.

Should she, therefore, be charged with being an accessory to all the vandalism, arson, and deaths that occurred when allegedly “marginalized” people rioted?

As it stands, the federal government reportedly has no plans to charge the president with murder — a fact that also bodes well for the likes of AOC, no?

“We don’t expect any charges of that nature,” a Department of Justice official said a couple of days after the riot.

“While a number of officials, including District of Columbia Attorney General Karl Racine, have said they’re looking into the role Trump played in the riot, none have indicated so far that the president would be an accessory to the deaths that occurred as rioters tried to block the certification of President-elect Joe Biden’s Electoral College win,” Politico added in a follow-up report this week.

Dovetailing back to Pelosi, one thing neither she nor incoming Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell have done yet endorses the idea by Democrats like AOC to expel the Republican members of Congress who’d also sought to legally challenge the outcome of the election.

The push to expel Republicans like Sens. Josh Hawley and Ted Cruz continues nevertheless.
