Delta slaps passengers who harassed Mitt Romney and Lindsey Graham on ‘no fly list’

Delta Air Lines put passengers who screeched at Republican Sens. Mitt Romney (Utah) and Lindsey Graham (S.C.) at airports recently on its no-fly list, according to the company’s CEO.

On Thursday, Reuters reported that CEO Ed Bastian mentioned the flight ban during a wider discussion about the airline’s path to economic recovery in 2021 following a year in which the COVID-19 pandemic ravaged the industry economically.

The Hill, meanwhile, reported that the addition of those passengers to Delta’s no-fly list comes as the Federal Aviation Administration announced the agency will ramp up enforcement of penalties against passengers who verbally or physically threaten passengers and airline crews.

Videos of both men being heckled and harassed by people who appeared to be supporters of President Donald Trump went viral in recent weeks following their opposition to opposing the certification of the Electoral College results for President-elect Joe Biden.

A day before the certification vote in Congress, Romney was confronted at Salt Lake City International Airport waiting to board a flight to Washington, D.C.

A woman who was filming the encounter was asked by Romney to put on a mask as she approached.

“Please put your mask on, you’re required by law to put your mask on in this airport,” the Utah senator and lone-Republican vote to convict President Trump during his first impeachment said.

“Don’t tell me what to do. I’m standing six feet away,” the woman replied, though she went on to comply because she said she’d like to “have a chat” with Romney.

“Why aren’t you supporting President Trump? You’re not supporting him,” she said.

“I do support President Trump,” Romney responded, adding, “I’m sorry, I do agree with many of the things he’s for and I support him.”

The woman then pressed Romney on why he refused to sign on electoral challenges as some other GOP senators had done.

“It’s a long story but it’s a constitutional process and the constitution is clear,” Romney said. “I will follow the constitution and I will explain all that when we meet in Congress this week.”

Eventually, an exasperated Romney closed his laptop, got up, and walked away as the woman and another man who was also filming continued to engage him. The woman called him “a joke” and said it was a “disgusting shame” he wouldn’t support Trump’s challenges.

Graham, meanwhile, was harassed at a D.C. area airport by a swarm of Trump supporters who blasted him for refusing to support challenges to electoral votes.

The South Carolina Republican was shielded by a police officer amid catcalls of “traitor” and “audit the vote.”

“Trump and I, we’ve had a hell of a journey. I hated it being this way. Oh, my God, I hate it,” Graham said on the floor of the Senate following the riot at the U.S. Capitol Building. “From my point of view, he’s been a consequential president. But today, first thing you’ll see, all I can say is count me out, enough is enough.”

Actress Mindy Robinson, a supporter of the president, a 2020 GOP congressional candidate in Nevada, and longtime girlfriend of UFC Hall of Fame’s Randy Couture, was one of the people who confronted and filmed the encounter with Graham.

“Lindsey Graham just made the mistake walking by me and a mass of angry patriots at the airport in DC. All America wants is for you to AUDIT OUR VOTE and purge this election of this massive corruption…and you won’t do it. We’re not letting this “slide” so expect more of this,” she wrote on Twitter in a Jan. 8 post.
