The far-left “news” network CNN, a purveyor of content that has grown increasingly propagandistic in the age of Donald Trump, is set to stop broadcasting at airports throughout the country come March of this year, according to CNN chief Jeff Zucker.
“Today, we are announcing that the CNN Airport Network will end operations as of March 31,” Zucker announced Tuesday in an internal memo that was made public by CNN “journalist” Oliver Darcy.
“The steep decline in airport traffic because of COVID-19, coupled with all the new ways that people are consuming content on their personal devices, has lessened the need for the CNN Airport Network,” the memo continued.
Zucker, a man known for purposefully distorting and/or hiding the truth, conveniently neglected to mention that CNN has been losing money.
“The ad-supported CNN Airport Network was no longer a profitable operation for the WarnerMedia unit, according to people briefed on the matter who were not authorized to comment publicly,” the Los Angeles Times has confirmed.
Moreover, roughly two dozen employees at CNN’s Atlanta headquarters are now slated to lose their jobs. Zucker will of course remain on the job and continue to collect a reported $6 million annually.

The CNN chief concluded his memo by reminiscing over the network’s ostensible success.
“[T]he CNN Airport Network has kept millions of domestic travelers informed. It also became an iconic part of the traveling experience in this country. I am sure most of us have a story to tell about which airport we were at when we first learned of a major news event. Be proud that we had a hand in sharing some incredible stories with many millions of people over the past three decades,” he wrote.
Fox News host Tucker Carson, both a frequent critic of CNN and also a frequent target of CNN’s “self-righteous,” hypocritical commentary, likely views things differently.
Speaking three years ago about CNN’s ubiquitous presence at America’s airports, he said that the network made airports feel like “a lesser version of hell.”
“If you have ever been to an American airport, you may have noticed something: Everyone’s watching CNN. They don’t have a choice,” he said on Fox News’ Tucker Carlson Tonight.
“That may have made choice 20 years ago when CNN had a centrist reputation, but these days the channel has strayed so far to the left and is constantly promoting wacky Russia-related conspiracy theories, along with strange spiritual advice from resident philosopher/poet Chris Cuomo, you gotta wonder what’s going on. Airports feel like a lesser version of hell with dirty seats, overpriced food and propaganda posing as news on CNN.”

He also explained why this phenomenon exists.
“Why is this network, this channel in every airport in America? We decided to find out. In a surprisingly large number of cases, the reason is that CNN is literally paying to have you watch them. CNN has a special package called CNN Airport. It combines news, sports, and travel. In at least 60 airports, CNN has signed agreements to show the channel,” he said.
“In Miami, for example, CNN Airport pays the airport authority a minimum of $150,000 a year. In Minneapolis, the airport authoritarians there told us CNN covers the costs related to the TVs and the infrastructure, and pays us for the opportunity to be in our facilities.”
“Which raises the question, how much would you have to be paid to watch CNN? If the answer is no amount would be enough, we don’t blame you. Unfortunately, at the airport you don’t have a choice.”
Americans didn’t have a choice at the time. Come March, they will — and from the cheers and glee that erupted in response to Darcy’s ratioed tweet, it seems they’re quite pleased.

Well, nice to get the first bit of good news for 2021. Without YouTube setting up algorithms to support corporate shit like CNN up, CNN would be on its death bed a long time ago.

An interesting study would be charting the drop in airport alcohol sales following the removal of CNN from airports.

“An iconic part of air travel.” Yeah, right up there with being groped by TSA, and watching gate lice storm the line as soon as they call for boarding of those that need extra time and uniformed service members.

Without airport traffic, CNN is slated to suffer a ratings dive.
